"I looked and searched for a practice I felt comfortable with for a mommy makeover. I found the team for Dr. Hedden to be very kind and helpful, but also encouraging and not pushy. "After losing almost a hundred pounds, I was left with extremely loose, sagging skin, and after consulting with three plastic surgeons, I decided to go with Dr. Halka. He is exceptionally kind and patient with all my questions and concerns, and I am so happy I chose him as my surgeon. He did my brachioplasty (arm lift) and breast lift 7 weeks ago, and I am thrilled with my results. My scars look fantastic, and I honestly can’t believe how wonderfully everything is healing. "Life changing difference - I searched for a long time for someone to do a thigh lift. I had lost a significant amount of weight and wanted my thighs to look…better. I had no expectations of being model perfect but just better was good enough for me! I emailed Dr. Halka and he responded! I had emailed numerous other Doctors but no responses except from Dr. Halka. I made my appointment and paid for surgery and in January my life was changed for the better, way beyond my expectations! Believe it or not I didn’t take 1pain pill!! I was amazed that he laid the medication protocol out and found that the Tylenol, Advil, and muscle relaxers handled the pain perfectly! "Amazing LBL with MR and Fat Transfer to Buttocks - After 4 babies and a weight loss of 80lbs, finally decided it was time to get rid of some skin. Went in thinking mommy makeover. Dr Halka told me he didn’t think the tummy tuck results would make me happy and recommended the lower body lift. I was concerned about it flattening out my butt so he also suggested the fat transfer. "A Whole New Me! - What a life-changing experience with Dr. Halka! As a 45-year-old woman, wife, and mother, I finally realized that taking care of myself IS taking care of my family. I decided to put myself and my health first for a change and set a goal to lose the excess weight I've been carrying around my entire life. With bariatric surgery, a complete lifestyle change to a low-carb diet, and 4-6 intense 5 am workouts weekly, I lost 110 pounds and have maintained the loss for two and a half years. This was ah-mazing! However, after two years of hard work and dedication, my body was still a saggy, floppy mess even after the incredible weight loss. I decided to go for a Mommy Makeover consultation at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery after following them on Instagram for about a year. I met with Dr. Halka, who was very thorough and took his time explaining everything, answering all of my questions, and addressing all of my concerns. I went on two other consultations in Huntsville, AL, and Chattanooga, TN as those locations are closer to my home, but ultimately, I chose Dr. Halka's plan for the procedure and recovery because it was the best. We decided on a 360 body lift with muscle repair and lipo, breast augmentation with 500 cc Mentor silicone implants placed above the muscle, and fat transfer to the buttocks. "I had my tummy tuck surgery done about a year and I must say am more confident about how I look now. He really did a great job from waist 34” to 28” now. The recovery after surgery has it’s own challenges but after 2 weeks I was fine . Dr. Halka was checking on me with phone calls to make sure everything was good. The staff were awesome and very polite in person and on phone ready to answer all my questions . I really love my body shape now, I don’t have to wear any body shaper under my clothes. He is a doctor who really listens and advises on making the right choices concerning any type of plastic surgery you looking forward doing. I recommend him today and always. "Belt lipectomy - results 6 weeks post-op are amazing, very caring - My treatment listed here is for a Tummy Tuck because what I actually had isn't listed as a treatment.I was referred to Heddn & Gunn Plastic Surgery by a former patient, and when I went in for the consultation, it was originally for a tummy tuck. After meeting with Dr. Gunn and talking about what I wanted, he was very informative about my particular body issues, made some recommendations, and I wound up having a Belt Lipectomy. The results, six weeks post-op, are amazing. I look in the mirror and I can't believe what I see. What I got was so much more than I expected, and I cannot be happier with the results.Also, the entire staff at the clinic is kind and caring. I got phone calls the first few weeks to check on me, and during my visits, or if I called the clinic - no question was "too much" or met with anything but all the information I asked for and more.I would definitely recommend Dr. Gunn and this clinic!"
"Meticulously re-designed my body to the best I feel it can be! - I am a massive bariatric weight loss surgery patient. I’ve lost 158 lbs! I exercised the entire time during my journey but was left with flapping skin on my arms, and massive excessive skin everywhere. I interviewed surgeons, and Dr. Halka was my chosen surgeon and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. He was ‘The One!”. He is kind, beyond intelligent, personable, humble yet confident, and was excited to help me! He won me over from his first handshake! I had him fix my drooping saggy arms in November, 2022. My results were so great that I returned a few months later in April, 2023 to Dr. Halka who performed my bilateral thigh lift, Tummy Tuck with Muscle Repair, and circumferential body lift! He removed almost 12 lbs of sagging, loose skin. He meticulously re-designed my body to the best I feel it can be! What skill! My tummy is flat (it has been literally decades since I’ve had a flat tummy) and my belly button is adorable! My scars are beautiful, thin and even! I am 52 years old and I truly have never felt or looked better! I have been blessed to have found him! I highly recommend this terrific surgeon! "Easy recovery and very satisfied with my results - Dr Hedden did a fantastic job in June of 2022 I had a plus size tummy tuck with lipo to flanks and upper abdomen as well as a breast augmentation. I had tuberous breast deformity and was scheduled to also have a lift at time of the original surgery. There is always a risk that they cannot complete the lift due to something I can’t recall. But I had 450 cc saline implants put in and my breast looked pretty awful due to my deformation. He released the bands and they settled in and turned out we could get away with not doing a lift but since they had stretched I could then do a swap to silicone and opted for 750 cc which look extremely natural. Having two surgeries to get them where I wanted was understandable and worth it. My recovery was easy just follow all instructions. I am very satisfied with my results."

"I highly recommend Dr Hedden. When I was considering having a tummy tuck to tighten loose skin, I had a lot of questions and wanted to make sure I chose the right doctor. I called a friend who previously worked for Dr. Hedden. She went on and on about what a skilled physician he was and how talented he was. When I went in for my consultation, he sat down and we discussed everything about the surgery and what I could expect post surgery. I had a lot of questions and he took plenty of time to answer them all. I even asked him about another procedure that I was curious about and he told me I didn’t need it. He didn’t try to make another sale, he simply said, “you don’t need that.” After we talked, I knew immediately, he was the doctor for me. The day of my surgery, I was a little nervous. The nurse told Dr. Hedden and he came in and reassured me. He is so awesome! My surgery and recovery went smoothly and I have been extremely pleased with my results."

The following appointments were pretty quick, and overall, the price was reasonable for what I had done. They were very straight forward about pricing and everything involved with the surgery. They also have good post surgery support, which I appreciated. I really liked that they have an after hours line for any problems you may have, and I could get in touch with an on call nurse who actually answers if I had any issues. I recommend them. "I almost didn’t try this doctor because of a negative review talking about “how rude” the staff was. I have been to this facility many times and not once have they been rude. "bbl review - I recently had surgery on 9/9/22. I had lipo 360 w/ BBL. After gaining some weight, I wasn't happy with my body anymore. Despite diet and exercise, I still couldn't get the shape I wanted due to mostly fat on my waist. Originally, I was only going to get lipo done but figured I might as well use the fat while I have it since it's going to lipoed off anyways. I'm currently 3 weeks post op but the pictures I'm posting are from 2 weeks. "BBL with dr.gunn - I had my BBL and 4 areas of lipo by Dr Gunn. I'm three weeks weeks post op. I'll start off by saying that I'm super happy with my results and I think Dr Gunn is an amazing surgeon! He's compassionate, he listens to what you want and is straight forward with helping you to be realistic about your surgery. He doesn't rush you. He listened to all my long list of questions. He gave me exactly what I wanted. The fact that you can text him with any questions is amazing as well. I highly recommend him. I saw Dr. hedden the next day after surgery, he was awesome as well. Both surgeons are kind and professional. I have no complaints and nothing negative to say about either surgeon.The only one negative experience with having my surgery at Hedden plastic surgery is the nurses. They are rude and are not just not kind and warm which is what you expect with a nurse. My pre op nurse was sweet, my post op nurse was terrible. She didn't help me at all it was actually the receptionist( with the British accent) that offered me water and crackers after surgery. my post op nurse was complaining that everyone left her, complaining about her children as well. (I don't know her name but shes middle aged with brown hair) This was while I was waking up after surgery. I did hear her say that Dr Gunn called to check on me so that made me feel better. They could use new nurses but overall my experience was positive. The surgeons are amazing so don't let the nurses stop you from having surgery with them."

"Awesome Tummy Tuck - I had an abdominoplasty May 28 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It was worth every penny and I would do it all over again. The patient coordinator (Heather) answered all of my questions and assured me I would be just fine and completely satisfied and boy was she right! Prior to my surgery I watched a lot of videos and read so many reviews. I was prepared for the worst pain however my experience was completely different. "I'm 8 days PO and I must say, I feel really good! My recovery is not at all what I expected. I was terrified of being in excruciating pain and being helpless! The first day was kinda crazy because I was so doped up, so that was a blur. Day 2 was much better, I slept in my own bed, glad I didn't go a get a recliner, but I guess it works for some.
I'm an active person with being a group fitness instructor, so I really think that helped me out a lot. I had no real pain, just discomfort, and by day 4, I was pretty much self sufficient, I no longer need help with getting up and down, I was caring for my own incisions, emptying my drains (which I hate), and taking showers on my own!
I did a lot of praying not to be helpless, even though my hubby and family were there if I needed them, I did what I could on my own. I took a while but I got it done! I still have swelling and the drain sites are irritating but I'm staying in my garment most all day. No problems at all with my breast, I'm so pleased with them.
My doctor and his staff were excellent and made me feel special, he made me feel like he took pride in giving me what I wanted, so Kudos to Dr. Gunn and staff! I'm definitely glad I did it just hate I didn't do it sooner. Today I cooked, washed clothes, and did light housework. "Consult Review: Dr. Gunn is Great! .. Will Update Post Op! - Dr. Gunn is really nice and knowledgeable. I'm fairly thin (5'3 124 lbs) and we are going to do the bbl with fat transfer to the hips. He was fully transparent to the fact that I do not have a lot of fat to graft but he thinks he could give me the results I'm looking for. I had my consult maybe 3 weeks ago. I was excited, and then I got a little anxious so I blew up his phone and emails with questions. He and his nurses were really cool about it. He answered my questions and assured me that he would take as much fat as he could but more than likely, I wouldn't have a huge bubble butt. Which I'm ok with. I'm scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks. Will keep you updated!Updated on 4 Apr 2020:I’m 7 weeks post op. The surgery went well. The first week was torture. It was awful. After that everything was cool. My follow ups were cool. Dr. Gunn and his staff were really kind. I wasn’t expecting a huge transformation because I was a thin woman to began with. My first week out of surgery my results were just amazing. I still look at the pics in my phone just to reminisce. However, we the swelling went down, so did my excitement. Lol. I still look good, just not much different than I did before. My friends all say they can’t see where anything was done. Which for some can be a good thing! Right now I’m working on picking up more weight. Hopefully that will help everything look more pronounced. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just take the L but I’m definitely not considering a round 2. As far as experience is concerned, it was great. "Questions for other tummy tuckers - I have wanted a tummy tuck for as long as I can remember and I was finally able to do with the help of Dr. Stephen Gunn. I love him, Dr. Hedden, and their staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else! I had a revised breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and lipo.I had my surgery on 8/10/19. I spent the night in Birmingham the night before my surgery and the night of my surgery so we didn't have to get up as early the morning of the surgery. I had very little anxiety the night before. It was more excitement. We got to the surgery center and were called back in a reasonable amount of time. They began prepping me and I went back within about an hour of arriving (I was the first patient that day). I went in the OR and the next thing I know I'm waking up to go back to the hotel. I was in some pain and could not stand upright, naturally. I highly recommend the Exparel shot - worth the extra money. My husband had my meds filled and kept my meds coming on schedule, day and night, for the first few days to stay "on top of" the pain. My recovery has been pretty unremarkable, but I am 10 days out and I am having so much hypersensitivity. I seem to be having a pity party today. Luckily I have read that this is somewhat normal, which makes me feel better. :) My skin literally hurts! I called and they said that was normal and would go away with time. The drains are also on my last nerve (hopefully will come out Sept 4 - 2 weeks is enough!). They are hurting more than anything else. I can't find anything to wear that will cover them up, so I'm stuck at home and going stir crazy. I may be having a reaction to some of the tape, because it is itching me to death. Lastly, they should make these binders in petite. Because I'm so short, mine rides up so bad and doesn't cover everything it needs to. I struggle with it constantly.Now, I am finished with my pity party and the "bad" and will continue with the "good." I am very pleased with my results. Are my results perfect? No, but there was so much to go from where I was to perfect, I'm completely happy with what I have. My only concern is that there is a distinct line at my hips, almost like saddle bags. I'm hoping that it is just swelling, but again, if that is all I have to deal with, I am still pretty "pumped" about my flat tummy.Do any of you have similar experiences with hypersensitivity or pain in the drain? I go back next week to take stitches out of my BB and, hopefully, to get this other drain out.After the disappointment at the office, I decided to do a little retail therapy since I literally haven't been in real clothes in two weeks. It was much needed, but now I'm suffering from the swelling. Luckily, I don't have much to do tomorrow, so I can lay around and try to get rid of the swell hell."
"5'8" 550 CC's under the muscle saline biplaner - I have been wanting breast implants for around 15 years. And now my opportunity to get them has arrived! I have researched surgeons for months and found one I'm very happy with, that even before I scheduled my surgery returned my emails, even on the weekends. (I didn't expect a response until Monday, but how amazing) Since I live out of state from my surgeon I have spoken with numerous helpful associates and I have an in person consultation on the 25th. My surgery is scheduled for the 26th and I am so absolutely excited/scared. I still have some things to do on my to do list before my husband and I leave and I'm trying to get the rest of my list done today. As I work tomorrow and my husband and I leave after work. I was opting to get a tummy tuck first but decided to go with implants. I'm wanting saline implants under the muscle. I wanted to do a lift but I'm going to try implants first because a lift is more complicated and I have kids and a job to recover quickly for. My problem is I don't know how many CC's to get!? He gave me all the time I needed at the consultation to decide on a size and he has given me exactly what I wanted, even when I didn't understand all the details of how everything worked. I thought after having five kids I would be able to bounce back pretty quickly but that was not the case I have been very sore very swollen. I started my massages early about a week after my surgery I started massaging and I do massage more than what's even recommended because I really want a good outcome from this. With all the sagging I have I was offered who left as well but I decided against that and I just went with implants and I got a biplanar position sothe implants should move down and look natural I'm still waiting for them to completely drop and fluff. I love them so far I'm extremely happy with the outcome I feel better about myself I'm going to be able to wear the bathing suits I want the shirts I want I have more confidence I'm very happy that I did this for myself. "Consultation review: Wouldn’t show pictures of previous BBL’s - I went to see him April 2019. Wait time was short and he is a nice man. He answered my questions, but I didn’t feel completely comfortable with his answers because some didn’t coincide with research I’ve. done on Bbl, lipo/tummy tucks. While there I asked to see pictures of some of his work (Bbl’s), but he blew me off and asked me to email him and he would send some. We ended the consultation and his nurse gave me the cost. I emailed him as soon as I got in my car in his office parking lot...that was a Monday. I waited a couple days but he didn't reply, so I emailed him again on Wednesday...still no reply. I waited through the weekend and no reply, so I emailed a third time the following Monday..still no reply from Dr. Gunn. Needless to say he’s not the doctor that should do my BBL...disappointing to say the least.Updated on 29 Jun 2019:Since my initial post, Dr. Gunn reached out to me via email and left me his cell number. I called and he did not give me any empty excuses, but admitted that he dropped the ball, was very apologetic, and asked how he could “make it right” if I was still interested. During our conversation, I could sense his sincerity...he answered more questions, immediately sent pictures of previous BBL’s, so my surgery date is July 16. I am nervous, but excited. I’m not that anxious about the lipo, but I am about the BBL. I’m a very petite person and I want a great, natural looking butt to compliment my size. He assured me that I would be happy... I hope so! I would like to have my surgery sooner than 7/16, but he was booked, therefore I am the move-up list if there is a cancellation. "Good experience - Dr. Gunn was very nice and answered my long list of questions at our consultation. I went for a BBL, I was very nervous thinking about surgery and risks but he made me feel me comfortable after meeting with him. I decided to schedule the surgery and had it done on 4/20. I thought I would have really bad anxiety that day but I didn’t. When I got there I filled out a little paperwork then was called back. A nurse took before pictures and shortly after Dr. Gunn went over the surgery and made drawings on me. The nurse started my IV and I spoke with the anesthesiologist who was very nice, he put some medicine in my IV and walked me to the OR. I got on the table, took a few breaths from an oxygen mask and I was out! I’ve had a few questions for him throughout my recovery and he has been very easy to get ahold of and I will be seeing him again soon for my 2 week post op appointment! So far, I’m happy with my results. I have a flat tummy and although I wish my butt and hips were a bit bigger, I didn’t have as much fat I had hoped to graft there."

"A Couple Years of Weight Loss and Working Out, Tummy Tuck Time - I had lots of loose skin after losing around 60 lbs over several years. I had been working out pretty hard as well. So I contacted Dr. Hedden, who was close by and seemed to be reviewed well. The whole thing was quite a process for sure, but I can now say that it was absolutely worth it. It was a little over a year ago now and I continue to see things flattening out. I weighed 220 lbs going into the tummy tuck and I weigh 214 now. I'm still working towards the weight I was as an athlete in college. One thing I will mention is that a tummy tuck is a major procedure, it takes a long time to truly get back to normal with it. You can get back to all your activities rather quickly but your body isn't going to settle back to normal for some time."

Updated on 28 Mar 2018:So tomorrow will officially make a week post op and I'm itching to get back to my normal routine, going to the gym, and picking up my son! Unfortunately, because I'm not quite there, I have to do other things to occupy my time. I worked a 13 hour shift yesterday and it wasn't too bad. I felt a bit woozy mid day and sat for a little bit and felt better. My chest did feel really heavy today though, not painful, just heavy! I decided I needed to find a more supportive sports bra. I tried some at Target, Kohls, and then Ross before settling on a Puma sports bra that I'm not sure is the best fit but it's the best I could find. I knew going in to this that having a small rib cage and wanting tobe "so busty" was going to be a challenge when it came to clothing, bras, and bathing suits but the pros outweighed the cons! I have always had a large chest 34F at my largest size, but my weight has always fluctuated and the first thing to come or go with my weight was my breasts. And then after three kids and finally getting down to a size five...my poor deflated boobs could probably be rolled up to fit in to a C cup. Anyhow! I tried some clothes on for fun today while looking for a bra, and I always send pictures to my husband while he stands out and waits for me ;) ! Im definitely still swollen, my left side has dropped a little more than the right, but I'm still super happy with my results. Updated on 29 Mar 2018:I've definitely dreaded posting these, but I know how relevant they are to the review, and giving everyone an idea of how good Dr Hedden is! Updated on 17 Apr 2018:Just a quick update! I'm just a few days shy of 4 weeks post op. I still love my results, my healing is going great, and I think my scars are looking pretty good. I think there's days when I stare to hard and can pick out every small imperfection but looking at my before pictures really snaps me back to reality. I have sharp shooting pains occasionally but nothing horrible. I went back to my the gym today but didn't doing anything the made my arms or band strain. Drainage is a clear yellow fluid now, which is a good thing. I'm hoping Dr. Hedden will remove the drainage on my second follow-up, Tuesday, April 17, 2018. "BBL in Birmingham Alabama - I was unhappy with the shape of my bottom. Wanting some butt work done ages ago, I decided to go ahead and move forward with the bbl before I got any older, I am 43 and have had five children. After much research on cosmetic surgeons in my area, I decided to use Hedden Plastic Surgery Center’s Dr. Gunn. The nurses were wonderful and Dr. Gunn was very knowledgeable and nice. "For many years I have wanted a nicely shaped derrière. I have run marathons, engaged in rigorous exercise routines, but no matter what I did, I was never able to attain the look I desired. I finally began looking at surgical alternatives, did a lot of research and decided the results I was looking for would probably require buttock augmentation. A consultation with Dr. Hedden confirmed this procedure would likely provide the results I desired. Below I will share a very brief story of my first 6 weeks post-operatively.
Days 1-7: This was a pretty uncomfortable time for me. I felt very, very sore and it was difficult to find a comfortable position. However, the pain medication and muscle relaxers made it bearable. Each day got a little better.
Days 8-14: Bandages off … able to see results so the discomfort has been worth it! By Day 14, I went back to work full-time (office type job). I am comfortable sitting at work; you don't sit on the implants as they are placed above the part of your "bottom" that touches a seat. And best of all, my bottom "feels" natural to the touch … you can't feel the implants from the outside! However, still sore at times.
Days 15-21: By the end of the third week I was able to fully return to all activities except exercise. Still sore at times, but rather than feeling "painful" it feels more like feels like I have worked out really hard on a Stairmaster.
Days 22-28: Main challenge has been to not "over-do-it." I feel great and want to work out. I tried to exercise a little but my body was just not ready. Don't cheat and do any exercise routine early. It is NOT worth it. I tend to be impatient; as a result I am a little frustrated that I am not back to 100%.
Days 29-35: Still a little sore, but gets better every day.
Days 36-42: The implants now feel like a natural part of my body and the result is absolutely what I wanted. I have returned to all activities that I engaged in pre-operatively. I still wear the same size clothing, but the fit is SO MUCH better. I am very pleased with how much better my favorite, worn-out jeans look :)"

"I am 28 year of age single mother living in Birmingham, Alabama. I am a nurse. I have always had a few problem areas on my hips that I just could not get to go away. I then saw some ads for smart liposuction.
I did my research and found a few doctors in Birmingham, Alabama that performed the procedure. A few were not even plastic surgeons and had their dogs in the office, just did not seem safe. I had the surgery at their surgery center and was there for about 2 hours. It was performed under local anesthetic and did not hurt at all. I have to admit I was very nervous that it was going to hurt but it did not, it was so easy. I was back to work the next day and had no signs of bruising.

"I have been overweight all my life. I was 49 years old, weighed 289 lbs, and extremely depressed. My feet, legs, hips and especially my back hurt. I wore a size 22/24 and my feet swelled so that I could only wear one pair of dress shoes comfortably and without embarassment. I considered gastric bypass surgery for a couple of years and had just witnessed one of my best friends go through it with great success.
I made the decision to have the bypass surgery, lost 150 lbs and felt great. I was wearing a size 6-8 and looked pretty good in clothes.
I was very happy but the weight loss left my 50 year old body with a lot of excess skin. My breasts, which had previously been a 42 DDD, had become what my fiancé termed as "36 LONGS." I had nothing left but empty skin sacks. My abdomen also hung with loose skin. My legs were extremely horrible with a lot of loose skin and my arms had "bat-wings."

I had the tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation done in his office. The staff was wonderful and very professional. I was given a prescription for pain killers and muscle relaxers. My first night was spent in a hotel room so that I could be close to Dr. Hedden's office in case of an emergency. My fiancé stayed with me, helped me to the restroom and cared for me. I had mild discomfort but it was nothing like what had been described by other people who "knew someone who had had the surgery and couldn't move for 6 weeks." I did just what the doctor ordered and had very little discomfort even having both procedures at once. The staff at Dr. Hedden's office marveled at my recovery time.
I am now a happy 36D with a very flat tummy. I love my new body and have been able to shop at Victoria's Secret for more than just the lotions! I will be going back for the other two procedures (legs and arms). Maybe after that I will have a facelift … after all I am 51 years old now!
