What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a body contouring procedure performed at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery for patients who want to reduce fat around the flanks, stomach, buttocks, thighs, and elsewhere for a slimmer physique. How Is Liposuction Performed?
At Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery, we offer laser-assisted and ultrasound-assisted liposuction. Both use a cannula (or a hollow stainless steel tube), which is inserted into a small incision to suction out unwanted fat. The liposuction techniques we offer include:
- Traditional liposuction: A cannula is inserted to break up fat before a high-pressure vacuum removes the fat.
- Power-assisted liposuction: A vibrating cannula is used to break up fat into small pieces, which can then be more easily removed.
- Ultrasound-assisted liposuction: Ultrasonic vibrations are used to create energy, which helps dissolve fat.
- VASERlipo®: This is a state-of-the-art form of ultrasound-assisted liposuction.
- Laser-assisted liposuction: This technique is similar to ultrasound-assisted liposuction, but it uses a laser to dissolve fat.
- Water-assisted liposuction: A pressurized stream of saline is used to loosen fat and make it easier to extract.
Laser-assisted liposuction: Laser liposuction involves using low-energy laser waves delivered through a thin fiber inserted via small incisions. The laser energy targets specific areas of the body where excess fat is to be removed. Once the fat is liquefied, a small cannula is used to suction out the melted fat.
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction: Fat is broken down by ultrasonic waves emitted from the end of a cannula inserted through small incisions. These ultrasonic waves emulsify or liquefy the fat, which is then removed through the same cannula.

I had a bbl and lipo 360 with Dr. Hedden last year, and I’ve been very happy with my results. I did an online consultation. The following appointments were pretty quick, and overall, the price was reasonable for what I had done. They were very straight forward about pricing and everything involved with the surgery. They also have good post surgery support, which I appreciated. I really liked that they have an after hours line for any problems you may have, and I could get in touch with an on call nurse who actually answers if I had any issues. I recommend them. I’m happy with how my body turned out, and the overall process was very organized and went smoothly.

bbl review - I recently had surgery on 9/9/22. I had lipo 360 w/ BBL. After gaining some weight, I wasn't happy with my body anymore. Despite diet and exercise, I still couldn't get the shape I wanted due to mostly fat on my waist. Originally, I was only going to get lipo done but figured I might as well use the fat while I have it since it's going to lipoed off anyways. I'm currently 3 weeks post op but the pictures I'm posting are from 2 weeks. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my results and finally have the body I've always dreamed of.Updated on 2 Oct 2021:I don’t have many good before pics on my phone, so I tried to do the best I could. Lol. I forgot to add the 2 weeks after pics to my initial review so here they are. I’ll also post updated pics next week. Updated on 27 Nov 2021:I love my results so much.
