"After losing almost a hundred pounds, I was left with extremely loose, sagging skin, and after consulting with three plastic surgeons, I decided to go with Dr. Halka. He is exceptionally kind and patient with all my questions and concerns, and I am so happy I chose him as my surgeon. "I had a breast augmentation on 6/27 and from the initial consultation to post op i had nothing but a fantastic experience. I am from out of town so i did my initial consultation with Heather virtually. She is amazing and answered all questions I had leading up to surgery. "I had a breast augmentation with Dr. Hedden 05/07/24. From the virtual consult (I’m an out of state pt) forward I had nothing but a great experience! Their out of town coordinator, Heather, is such a pleasure and does her job very well! I had consults at other practices but no one made me feel as if they were confident in their ability to give me what I wanted except for Dr. Hedden. I’m 4 weeks post op and only wish I had done this sooner!! As a 37yr old mom of 3, my breast volume had decreased. Dr. Hedden has given me a great deal of confidence in my body. So when you have previous deflating from breast feeding or weight loss, you tend to drop a little faster since the loose skin is more able to adapt to the implant versus tight skin. My incisions are pretty unnoticeable from a glance. Hats off to my surgeon for that. I’m healing great and I’m looking forward to seeing my final results. More updates next week! "A Whole New Me! - What a life-changing experience with Dr. Halka! As a 45-year-old woman, wife, and mother, I finally realized that taking care of myself IS taking care of my family. I decided to put myself and my health first for a change and set a goal to lose the excess weight I've been carrying around my entire life. With bariatric surgery, a complete lifestyle change to a low-carb diet, and 4-6 intense 5 am workouts weekly, I lost 110 pounds and have maintained the loss for two and a half years. This was ah-mazing! However, after two years of hard work and dedication, my body was still a saggy, floppy mess even after the incredible weight loss. I decided to go for a Mommy Makeover consultation at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery after following them on Instagram for about a year. I met with Dr. Halka, who was very thorough and took his time explaining everything, answering all of my questions, and addressing all of my concerns. I went on two other consultations in Huntsville, AL, and Chattanooga, TN as those locations are closer to my home, but ultimately, I chose Dr. Halka's plan for the procedure and recovery because it was the best. We decided on a 360 body lift with muscle repair and lipo, breast augmentation with 500 cc Mentor silicone implants placed above the muscle, and fat transfer to the buttocks. The procedure went smoothly with no complications, and I followed the post-op instructions to the letter. Now, 12 weeks post-op, I am incredibly happy with my results. Dr. Halka didn't just perform a Mommy Makeover, he created a whole new version of me. I'm in the best shape of my life and finally, at 47 years of age, I feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable in my skin. I'm incredibly grateful for Dr. Halka's kindness, talent, and expertise. He was involved with every step of the process leading up to my surgery, and was extremely helpful and concise with any questions I had. "Dr. Hedden and staff were amazing! Dr Hedden did a full breast revision fixing my botched breast lift/implant procedure I had from another doctor. The whole experience was wonderful. All the nurses were super friendly and helpful and made sure I was comfortable and relaxed. They brought me warm blankets while I was in the pre-op room! The anesthesiologists were super gentle and nice enough to numb my arm before the IV. Dr Hedden was very knowledgeable and did a great job at explaining what the best option was for my desired outcome. Surgery went great. We are from out of town so we stayed at a hotel nearby and went back the next morning for my post-op check up. There was a small issue with the placement of my implant combined with a fluid pocket. Dr Hedden tried to drain the fluid but it didn’t work. He was very kind and encouraging that I could wear compression for a few days and if it didn’t fix it to come back and he would fix it! I had the BLISS insurance so there was no additional cost at all. Even though the fluid pocket went down substantially, I still wanted him to fix it and make it absolutely perfect. He gave no pushback and got me right in for surgery the morning I came back. The second surgery was quick and I had the same great experience. Overall, the whole process was WONDERFUL. I wish I’d have gone with 800cc because boob greed is a real thing lol but I’m glad I got the 600 because bras are hard to find in a 38E lol but compared to what I started with I’d say I have a 95% improvement and I love the way all my clothes fit now! My scars have healed nicely and are barely even visible and can’t even be seen at all when I’m standing up. I still have some numbness but I’m a type 1 diabetic so I assume mine just take longer to fully heal but I have enough sensation back that I’m not too worried about it. "Easy recovery and very satisfied with my results - Dr Hedden did a fantastic job in June of 2022 I had a plus size tummy tuck with lipo to flanks and upper abdomen as well as a breast augmentation. I had tuberous breast deformity and was scheduled to also have a lift at time of the original surgery. There is always a risk that they cannot complete the lift due to something I can’t recall. But I had 450 cc saline implants put in and my breast looked pretty awful due to my deformation. He released the bands and they settled in and turned out we could get away with not doing a lift but since they had stretched I could then do a swap to silicone and opted for 750 cc which look extremely natural. Having two surgeries to get them where I wanted was understandable and worth it. My recovery was easy just follow all instructions. I am very satisfied with my results."

"38B to 40DD - 3 weeks post 600cc, HP, silicone, Mentor - I had four children, breast fed and lost a lot of weight in the process. My weight would always fluctuate so that left me with REALLY droopy and uneven breast. I was always embarrassed of my breast and would never wear a swim top or anything due to them making me so insecure. I researched breast implants near me and several came up but one just kept coming up in every search, Hedden Plastic Surgery. I researched the center and did a virtual consult with Dr. Hedden, where I sent pictures of my then breast and told him what I wanted. "Finally Got my Breasts Done !! I'm So Happy ! - I finally got my breast augmentation after wanting it for yearsss. I paid for my surgery in April .. Scheduled it in Birmingham, Alabama for July 23rd. The day of surgery was pretty smooth. I was nervous but the anesthesia knocked me out within minutes ! I came across him and for the price and reviews I saw I figured it was worth scheduling a consult. Shortly after my consult and some discussion I made up my mind to get 525cc Natrelle Saline Implants, Inframmary Incision, and no lift. "Mommy got new boobies! - Hi! I'm 31 years old, 5,5" and 190 pounds. I breastfed two children and had deflated 38Cs to start. I dreamed of having breast augmentation for years and years. I really was looking to fill in the tissue I had. My hope is a full DD or even a DDD. I started with slight sagging, and was told by 2 surgeons before that I needed a lift. "Questions for other tummy tuckers - I have wanted a tummy tuck for as long as I can remember and I was finally able to do with the help of Dr. Stephen Gunn. I love him, Dr. Hedden, and their staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else! I had a revised breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and lipo.I had my surgery on 8/10/19. I spent the night in Birmingham the night before my surgery and the night of my surgery so we didn't have to get up as early the morning of the surgery. I had very little anxiety the night before. It was more excitement. We got to the surgery center and were called back in a reasonable amount of time. They began prepping me and I went back within about an hour of arriving (I was the first patient that day). I went in the OR and the next thing I know I'm waking up to go back to the hotel. I was in some pain and could not stand upright, naturally. I highly recommend the Exparel shot - worth the extra money. My husband had my meds filled and kept my meds coming on schedule, day and night, for the first few days to stay "on top of" the pain. My recovery has been pretty unremarkable, but I am 10 days out and I am having so much hypersensitivity. I seem to be having a pity party today. Luckily I have read that this is somewhat normal, which makes me feel better. :) My skin literally hurts! I called and they said that was normal and would go away with time. The drains are also on my last nerve (hopefully will come out Sept 4 - 2 weeks is enough!). They are hurting more than anything else. I can't find anything to wear that will cover them up, so I'm stuck at home and going stir crazy. I may be having a reaction to some of the tape, because it is itching me to death. Lastly, they should make these binders in petite. Because I'm so short, mine rides up so bad and doesn't cover everything it needs to. I struggle with it constantly.Now, I am finished with my pity party and the "bad" and will continue with the "good." I am very pleased with my results. Are my results perfect? No, but there was so much to go from where I was to perfect, I'm completely happy with what I have. My only concern is that there is a distinct line at my hips, almost like saddle bags. I'm hoping that it is just swelling, but again, if that is all I have to deal with, I am still pretty "pumped" about my flat tummy.Do any of you have similar experiences with hypersensitivity or pain in the drain? I go back next week to take stitches out of my BB and, hopefully, to get this other drain out.After the disappointment at the office, I decided to do a little retail therapy since I literally haven't been in real clothes in two weeks. It was much needed, but now I'm suffering from the swelling. Luckily, I don't have much to do tomorrow, so I can lay around and try to get rid of the swell hell."
"Amazing! - I had weight loss surgery in 2012 and I lost over 200 pounds and surprisingly I lost all self confidence. "I am 37 years old and the mom of 3 teen children, all of whom I breast fed. I was always small going through school and could never wear the type of clothes I wanted to wear. After breast feeding three babies I dried up to be even smaller. So at 37 I decided to do something special for myself.
I was going to get a breast augmentation. I made the appointment with Dr. Hedden. His staff is very professional and make you feel at ease. They treated me as if they had known me for years. On my first appointment I was told to bring different size bras that I might like to be, so I did C's and D's. They put my husband and I in a room and gave us several different size implants to try on play with. I decided on 425 CC round under the muscle.
Dr. Hedden came in, examined and measured my chest wall and breast, and said that would work and would make me around full C and small D. He explained the surgery and recovery and answered all my questions. I wanted this so bad but was very scared until I left this appointment. Leaving I felt very sure, safe and excited.
I arrived on the morning of the surgery, my husband got to come back and stay with me until time to go to the O.R. We kissed goodbye and off I was to surgery. The anesthesiologist explained to me what she would be doing and we began.
After the surgery I don't really remember a lot until we were almost home. When we got home my husband helped me into the recliner and told me things went great. I just wanted to sleep. Around 4 hours later I awoke asking for a pain pill, feeling sore and aching. The next morn he got me up and helped me take a shower. My first view of the new girls! There was still tape across my incisions and some bruising. They were still high but wow I was a D cup for sure.
The shower felt great and back on with the sports bra. The recliner was my home for the day because I was sore and stiff but not too much pain. No more pain pills all day. In the days to follow I got my strength back in my arms and it wasn't too long that the girls started to drop.
It has been 13 months now since my surgery and I have no regrets. It has been everything I imagined and I can now wear all the cute clothes that I have always wanted to wear.
So expect 3 days to really feel good and a couple of weeks before you can sleep on your side. But I would recommend it to anyone longing for it like I was. The staff and Dr. Hedden will make you feel so comfortable while you are there."
"I finally got my breast augmentation after wanting it for yearsss. I paid for my surgery in April .. Scheduled it in Birmingham, Alabama for July 23rd. The day of surgery was pretty smooth. I was nervous but the anesthesia knocked me out within minutes ! It wasn't as bad as most people said it would be. Just a lot of tightness and pressure. I went with 550CC on the left and 525CC on the right. Before surgery, I was either a 32DD OR A 34D. NOW I'm either a 36DDD or a 38DD. My only Advice is if u want your breasts done DO IT ! IT IS SOO WORTH IT. If u do decide to do it , get plenty of rest! Take someone with u that u can definitely depend on to help u . Let people help u! I will update u guys as time passes. UPDATE — I will be 6 weeks post op on Friday ! My dressings on my stitches came off 3 weeks post op.. I started sleeping on my side about a couple weeks ago . My breasts definitely have dropped tremendously. Up until about a week ago , my breasts were extremely swollen (especially the right one).. but it gets better with time . Time definitely makes a huge difference & I am in love ! I can't wait to fully heal .
UPDATE — Hey guys .. just wanted to update u guys .. My actual bra size is 34i . I'm still shocked about that!. My boobs are super cute and natural looking now & they have became apart of me . I will update u guys as time passes .

"5'8" 550 CC's under the muscle saline biplaner - I have been wanting breast implants for around 15 years. And now my opportunity to get them has arrived! With all the sagging I have I was offered who left as well but I decided against that and I just went with implants and I got a biplanar position sothe implants should move down and look natural I'm still waiting for them to completely drop and fluff. I love them so far I'm extremely happy with the outcome I feel better about myself I'm going to be able to wear the bathing suits I want the shirts I want I have more confidence I'm very happy that I did this for myself. "I have been wanting to get my breasts done for about 4 years. Before my surgery I was a 34A. I am 5'4 and I weigh about 130lbs. I decided to go with 425cc's and so far so good.
I googled "plastic surgeons in AL", that's where I found about 4 surgeons that I was interested in. When you start looking at the before and after pictures you really get a feel as to how talented the surgeon is, and when I saw Dr. Hedden's work I knew he was my surgeon. Always go with board certified. We all desire a surgeon who is performing in the best interest of us, the patient.
I decided to call and make a consultation with Dr. Hedden. The staff there is so nice and make you feel right at home. If they can't answer one of your questions they go out of their way to find the answer for you.
When I got to Hedden Plastic Surgery, I got called right back to a room where a nurse was waiting. She asked me about my incision choice and if I knew what size yet, I told her around a full C and she gave me some options on what would get me there. I decided on 390cc's. Dr. Hedden came in and talked to me, he was very calming and softspoken and extremely professional. He asked which size I decided on and I told him 390cc's and he told me he thought that was a good choice but I could go bigger if I wanted.
Finally the day of my surgery came and boy was I nervous. They asked me if I wanted to change my size and I told them yes I wanted to go to 425cc's. Dr. Hedden came in and was the one who really calmed me down, he assured me everything would be fine.
When I woke up there was a nurse with me, she was so sweet. She asked me how I was doing and if I needed anything and I told her I was fine. She helped me get dressed and wheeled me out to the car. I was in pain but finally it eased up on the 2nd day and I went to my follow-up appointment. Dr. Hedden was wonderful. He said everything looked good and to see me back in 4 weeks.
I am going on a week since my surgery. I have beautiful breasts now and can't stop looking at them. They are riding a little high but that is to be expected. They should be dropping to their natural place soon and I can't wait to buy all new bras and new swim suits!

"I am 23 years old. I had been thinking about breast augmentation for about 2 years before I went to Dr. Hedden for a consultation. For the longest time I felt less than a woman because of my small breast size. I had a nice little figure, but it was a "half hour glass" shape. I have a big butt, a small waist and NO BREAST! I was very troubled by that and one day I did something about it.
I had surgery at Hedden Plastic Surgery. Before augmentation I was a full 34A. I decided to go with 390 cc which would give me about a 2 cup size difference. The day of the surgery I remember going back and speaking briefly with a nurse, the doctor and the anesthesiologist. They all were shocked at how calm I was. I was so happy to be getting this procedure done! I was walked into the surgical suite where I was given an IV. I chose to have my implants placed underneath my muscle and the incision was made underneath the fold of my breast.
The next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room. The nurse smiled and asked how I was doing. I felt really good after I woke up. I truly was not in any pain. It was more of a feeling of tightness in my chest. Shortly thereafter, my fiancé pulled the car up and I was wheeled out. I was feeling well enough that I went into Rite Aid with him to fill my Rx. Then I was taken home to relax and recover.
My recovery process was good. I never felt pain, it was just like a pulled muscle. I was a little stiff for about 2 days, but after that I was okay. I only took maybe 2 of the pain pills. The day after surgery I switched to extra strength Tylenol and the day after that I took nothing. My surgery was on a Monday and I returned to work, feeling great, on Thursday. When I woke up I finally looked down at my "new additions" and noticed that they were basically to my collar bone! They dropped eventually, and now, if I tell someone they do not believe me because they look SO NATURAL!
Some people may think that if you go to a bigger size you may have some limitations to what you can do activity wise. That is not the case for me. I have always been an athletic person and nothing has changed. I can still play basketball, lift weights and anything else that I did before surgery. The only thing I had to adjust to was sleeping on my stomach with a bigger breast size. You kinda feel like you may bust them if you lay on them for too long, but trust me … they won't.
People ask me what was it like to have surgery and would I do it again. My best advice to them would be to research the procedure and the doctor that you would like to go to. Weigh the pros and cons and do what it best for you. But please understand that there are risks involved but for me, my joy and COMPLETE SATISFACTION totally outweighed the risk.
I have had no complication at all and I love my new body. The only thing that I would change would be the size. You may think that 390's sound big and they are. They are a full 34C now, but I think I could pull off a D cup with my body shape. So, Dr. Hedden and staff … see you soon!"

"I am a 33 year old mother of two. After the birth of my second child, my breasts became deflated and saggy. I had contemplated having implants for a couple of years. I finally decided to splurge and schedule my surgery.
I never felt any anxiety about the surgery. I was already a C cup prior to surgery but needed the fullness and perkiness back. I decided to go to a full D cup.
My surgery was scheduled on a Saturday at 2:00. My husband waited in the lobby while I went back and got ready for "the new me." Dr. Hedden came in and marked the size right on my breasts to be sure there were no mistakes, then the nurse began to administer the IV for the anesthesia.
When I woke up from the surgery I was freezing. I felt a lot of pressure, like an elephant was sitting on my chest. The nurse gave me a nice warm blanket and helped me put on the sports bra and my terry cloth jacket. She then wheeled me down in a wheelchair to the lobby where my husband was waiting.
When I got home I started taking the prescriptions. I took these like clockwork the first 24 hours and slept most of the time. I had to have help sitting up in the bed because you cannot put any strain on the arm muscle. The next day I got out of the bed and walked to the couch. I could move around really well. Even though I made myself move around I was careful not to pick up anything or strain my arm or chest muscles.
By the third day I would say I was back to 95% which really surprised me. The surgery and recovery was a lot easier than I had ever anticipated. It definitely was worth what little pain I had and worth every cent I paid. I would do it again in a minute."
"I am 37 years old and prior to my breast augmentation I was a 36A. I have always wanted a breast augmentation for as long as I can remember. I did years of research and looked at hundreds of before and after pictures. I also joined a message board and talked to people that had this done.
I made my consult with Dr. Hedden and decided that he was the surgeon for me. He took the time to answer ALL my questions and I was comfortable with him and the staff. Dr. Hedden had asked me what size I was considering and I said 375cc's and he said let me just suggest that you go with 395cc's. His reason was that most woman want to be bigger because once the swelling goes down you see a different size. I left my consult still unsure about the size I wanted but I booked my surgery!
I went home and did the rice test in the stockings trying to figure out what I wanted. I wore the rice bags in my bras for days to get comfortable with the size I was considering. My husband thought at this point I was just boobie obsessed, which I was. I finally chose 395cc's, round implants and placed under the muscles, under the breast incision.
On my surgery day, I was so excited that I was finally going to have breasts after all these years of being flat chested. I started to get nervous once they took me back, but once I woke from surgery it was OK. The only thing I felt was heaviness on my chest. I felt that way for days. I never really felt any bad pain. I felt heavy on top. So, for me the recovery time was great.
There was another surgery date for me. I had the right breast that had "bottomed out" which means that the right breast was sitting slightly lower then the left. My husband said it was hardly noticeable but I noticed it. I wanted it fixed so Dr. Hedden went back in and did what they call tacking it up. That surgery for me was a little more painful then my first but still no regrets. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I have not had any physical limitations because of my breast augmentation. I'm able to workout and go about my daily life with no problems.
With my surgery I was a 36A and with the 395cc's that put me at 36 small D. I'm very happy that I went ahead with the surgery. I feel better in clothes, my self-esteem has soared. I have had nothing but support from family and friends. I was excited so I had to tell everyone I knew.
In retrospect if I could change one thing I would have gone bigger! I do plan on going bigger in the future. Play with all the sizers or take a bra with you of the size you want to be and see what sizers fill it.
All in all, I have had a GREAT experience. Dr. Hedden and his staff are absolutely wonderful and I would recommend them anyone!"

I was 20 years at the time of the surgery. I weigh about 100 lbs and was an A cup. I have considered breast augmentation for a while. I have always been self conscious about myself throughout school. After I had two kids, I was very unsatisfied with my breast and I finally decided to do something about it.
I started searching online and found Dr. Hedden. I read all the testimonials and decided to make a consultation. After meeting with him I knew right away that he was the one that I was going to let perform my surgery.
The day of my consult was the day I scheduled my surgery. 15 days later was my surgery, I was so excited yet nervous. I was still undecided on the size when I got there but I quickly decided that I wanted 425cc behind muscle with the incision under the breast. They took pictures and started my iv. After they put the anesthesia into my iv, I didn't remember much except them telling me they would take care of me and I was going to be fine. The next thing I remember was waking up very sore. They gave me drink, crackers and I had to have something for pain.
The first day was very uncomfortable for me. I had to stay at a motel because I live more than 30 minutes away from Birmingham. I did not get much sleep that night. I had an appointment the next day. Dr. Hedden said I looked good and that he would see me in 3 weeks. I am still waiting to go to my post-op appointment.
It has been 11 days and I am feeling better. The first week was hard. It feels like a muscle pull, very uncomfortable feeling. I wasn't supposed pick up over 5 lbs and didn't listen because I have a 9 month baby girl and she just made me pick her up. Other than that it has been good.
I am very satisfied with my breast now. I am more confident in myself than I have ever been. So thanks Dr. Hedden and all of his staff!

"Breast lift (mastopexy) with augmentation - I am 33 years old and I’ve had self confidence issues for around 13 years because of super sagging flat breasts that had a wrinkled stretched raisin like appearance. After breast feeding my two children and my weight loss from 224 lbs to 160 lbs - I finally decided I had enough of my breasts looking the way they did. I had my breast surgery on 3/28/8. When I woke up from the surgery I was in an immense amount of pain but that faded over 3 days and I went back to work after 4 days. (Very light work duty) Right now I’m sitting at a little over a month since having them done. I chose silicone cohesive gel mentor implants filled with 450cc each. A little before 2 weeks my right breast had an allergic reaction to the adhesive of the steri strips so I took some steroids and tried to keep the steri strips on a little longer. I took the steri strips off just before the 3 week mark and the incisions looked a little scary, because of the scabbing but that’s normal. The scabs finally fell off and the incisions looked awesome for how little time had passed. At a month post op I sent my surgeon pictures and he said my nipples were still sitting a little low because the implants were still a little high. He instructed me to start massaging down so the implants would drop and give me a more natural look. I’ve also started using a scar treatment called ScarGard - it stinks something awful!! Overall I’m thrilled with how they look and can’t wait to see the final result! Updated on 4 Jun 2020:Just wanted to update with original pictures and results! One thing that I might change would be nipple size. (I would have had him cut them down a bit) It seems like once my nipples were cut lose, they relaxed and just stayed that way and now appear pretty large. I don’t have the “drawn up” movement ever - even when I’m cold. But overall, I feel like my scars are pretty minimal and my confidence has definitely improved."

"My experience with Dr. Hedden was the best! I had a breast augmentation in July of 2012 and it was okay. I did 290cc of saline I can't say anything bad about that surgeon. I just wanted an upgrade I wanted them bigger and I wanted silicone! I had a friend that went to dr. Hedden and she was very pleased with him, so I decided I scheduled a consultation with him it took me about 2 months to get a consultation. I was in the office for probably 15 mins before I was called into a room to see dr. Hedden! Me and my boyfriend played around with the samples while we waited to see what size we liked. I was kinda hard for me to tell what it would look like since I already had implants. Originally I was wanting to go to a 450! I have lived my whole life with a very small chest, and have always felt that my body did not look proportional. I graduated college as a size 34A. After graduation, I decided to reward myself with the augmentation I was longing for.
So during a winter break from my graduate studies, I decided it was time. I had my wedding coming up and wanted to look perfect for my special day. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. William Hedden in Birmingham, Alabama to discuss my options. His office had several real "test" implants that I could handle and put in a sports bra. This, along with Dr. Hedden and his nurses' advice, helped me to decide on a 360cc implant. He explained every detail of the procedure and answered all of my relevant, and silly, questions.

"Breast Augmentation - Today, I received my breast augmentation! Yay! I got to the clinic at 6:15, signed all my paperwork, did my pre-op, Dr.Hedden and his medical team got me all prepped and marked me up. They were the nicest people who made me feel so comfortable! We discussed my sizing before I went into the operating room. During my first consultation in November, we decided on 450cc saline implants under the muscle. Today, I told Dr.Hedden I wanted to be a full DD a year from now and that I wanted him to try 500cc’s and he said he would do it! And just like that, I woke up with 500cc saline implants and I couldn’t be happier that I went up the extra 50cc’s before surgery. My mom is my caregiver, so she got me after surgery and filled my medications for me. I was able to eat and drink water when I got back to my hotel room. And I DID NOT PUKE! I have heard that a lot of people get sick after surgery, but I have been fine and dandy. I ate some chicken salad, saltine crackers, peanut butter crackers, 2 pieces of chicken Florentine pizza, and I’ve had a few butter cookies! I have also drank A LOT of water today, along with some sprite. I’ve been drinking Life Wtr because it has electrolytes which is what you need after undergoing surgery! Not too much pain. My boobs do not hurt, it is mostly my upper back. It just feels like I had a hard work out or I’ve been carrying a big backpack for too long. I moved from my bed to use the bathroom and walks up and down the hall to help my blood flow. I’ve been taking my pain medication on the dot, which I think has really helped me a lot. Like I said, it’s not my boobs that hurt - it’s just my back. So when my back started bugging me while laying in bed, I moved to the chair in my hotel room and sat straight up. It ended up relieving ALL of my back pain and it knocked me out for a hour nap. So I definitely recommend that. I have my bed all set up with pillows surrounding me so I can sleep on my back, and I will update you all tomorrow on how I’m feeling and how I slept! "I am 20 years old, 5'10", weigh 145 lbs. and have had my breast implants for a week and a half. I was a very small "A" before surgery and am now a full C. I must start off by saying Dr. Hedden did an excellent job! When you meet him and see his work you'll know why.
I researched breast augmentation for about 2 years and finally saved money to go ahead. My boyfriend's mother had her first surgery performed by Dr. Hedden about 9 months ago. I went to her surgery with her, that's when I first met Dr. Hedden. I told him I'd be a "future patient," not realizing I'd be a patient only 9 months later! My boyfriend's mother had a second procedure performed by Dr. Hedden 5 months ago and by then I'd decided I would definitely use Dr. Hedden because of the beautiful work he did on her.
I scheduled my consultation just to ask Dr. Hedden a few questions and before even consulting with him I scheduled my surgery! I knew he was the doctor for me! When I met with him I felt VERY comfortable with him and his staff. He has a beautiful office and everyone there makes you feel very welcome.
When I met with Dr. Hedden he took a look at me and told me I have what is called "constrictive breasts," which means they never developed. Dr. Hedden asked me what size I'd like to go to and I told him I thought a full C but I wanted his opinion. He told me a full C would be good for me and it'd probably take approx. 400-450 cc's to get me there. I got to try on the implant sizers and really liked the 400 cc range.
Surgery Day! I woke up not really nervous (because I've had surgeries before and I really trusted Dr. Hedden), but I was anxious to get it over with. Finally I would no longer be flat-chested! The nurse took before pictures and gave me my IV. The anesthesiologist came in and put some medicine in my IV, which totally relaxed me.
After I was walked to the operating room, I laid on the operating table and was hooked up to several monitors. The last thing I remember is my head feeling really heavy and I was out!
The next thing I remember was waking up in recovery. I stayed until I felt all right and she put my clothes on along with a sports bra that I am to wear for 2 weeks. I was then wheeled to the car. When I got home, I wasn't in that much pain, just really sore. It was hard to take deep breaths but after taking the muscle relaxer it was a little easier. It just felt like something heavy was compressing my chest. I took a shower by myself and washed my hair by myself the very next day. Although the first couple of days I had to have someone help me get out of the recliner, open pill bottles, get in and out of bed, etc.
I had my surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Monday. As far as being painful, I only took pain med's the day of surgery and the day after. Since then I haven't even taken Tylenol or anything for pain. After returning home from work the first couple of days after surgery I would take a muscle relaxer before going to bed.
I have now had my implants for 10 days and I am doing great! A lot of the swelling has gone down and my new boobies look good! I am so happy that I chose to have the surgery and that I used Dr. Hedden. If I should have to have any type of surgery in the future which Dr. Hedden performs, I'll definitely use his practice. I feel very confident now with my new look. Thanks Dr. Hedden!"

"I had implants 3 weeks ago. I am 45 years old, 5 ft. 3 in. tall and weigh 140 lbs. I was a 34B before surgery and now I am a 36C. I had a 360CC moderate profile smooth round Mentor implants. My implants were placed sub-muscular with my incisions under my breast.
I had always wanted large breasts since high school. I have 2 children and loved being pregnant because I had breast and felt more like a woman.
I had talked to several girls who had breast implants by Dr. Hedden, discussed the pros and cons and felt like I wanted to meet the doctor and ask some questions so I made an appointment for a consultation. I met the doctor and his staff and they made me feel very comfortable and helped me decide what would fit my body. I wasn't able to make an appointment then, but in January I made an appointment for April and was ready to tell the world.
The morning finally came and I was very nervous, not about getting the implants, but about being put to sleep. When I talked to the Anesthesiologist I felt better, but the best advice I got was from Dr. Hedden's nurse. She explained if I could differentiate pressure from pain I would be able to understand what to expect after the surgery.
Finally my dream has come true, my implants were put in and the first 2 to 3 days I was a little uncomfortable with pressure and soreness in the muscles in my chest and under my arms and I had to have help rising up in the bed.
The surgery was on a Wednesday and by Friday I was almost back to myself. The day I got home I took a pain pill and 2 hours later I took a muscle relaxer. The next day I started the antibiotics and took 1 muscle relaxer at night. I can honestly say there was no pain just pressure like the nurse said.
I went back to work in 1 week. I had someone to help me the first 2 days, after that I have been on my own and doing great. I feel a little twinge ever now and then when I shampoo or keep my arms up a lot, but that's to be expected. I feel wonderful. It has given me so much self-esteem. My attitude towards everything is different, I'm a happier wife and a confident stylist with a whole new wardrobe. That was a gift from my husband who is also proud of the "twins".
I have shown a lot of my customers the different me and have answered lots of questions people had and hope that because of my personal experience that I will be able to send some more people to have the procedure.

"I had breast implants last year. I had been struggling with this decision for years. I have always been overweight. I made a deal with myself that if I lost the weight I would go ahead with the surgery. After my second child, I weighed 189 lbs and was a size 14. It took a year but I lost 40 lbs and got down to a size 8. Losing the weight also affected my breast size. I was a small B and after I lost weight I became a small A.
My cousin referred me to Dr. Hedden. I went for a consultation and felt totally comfortable with him and his staff. I tried on sizers and decided on a full C to small D. I did a lot of research and scheduled my surgery for the end of May.
On the day of surgery, I was nervous and excited at the same time. I did not have to wait very long. The surgery itself was fine. I do not remember much pain at all. "31 Year Old, Childless and Breastless - This initial review will be short until I have more time to fully describe the GREAT experience and breast augmentation that I received at Hedden Plastic Surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to deciding to undergo a breast augmentation, my weight settled at 135 lbs on my 5'7" frame and my poor breasts were deflated. My right breast was in Stage I ptosis and I knew that I wanted to do something about them. My Iphone made my breast look really saggy but when Dr. Hedden saw me on July 11th, he told me that I did NOT need a lift and would be fine with a breast augmentation. I settled on 450 cc in my right breast and 485 cc in my left breast. Recovery was harder than I expected. My cousin stayed with me for a week but the first 4 days were intense and I do not have any memory of day #3. However, 12 days later I feel great. "I'm 23 years old and have wanted a breast augmentation for as long as I can remember. Last year I finally decided I would at least go in for consultation. I did a search and came across www.heddenmd.com. From there I was able to send an email asking all of my questions.
Within a couple of days I received an email from Dr. Hedden. I had asked him general questions about the procedure including the cost. He answered all my questions, even the dumb ones, including the price of the surgery. I was so happy with the price and the doctor's cooperation that I immediately scheduled my consultation.
When I got to the office, I felt very comfortable with the atmosphere. The nurse was in the room waiting for us when we got back. She asked me what I was thinking about having done and I told her I wanted a breast augmentation. She asked me if I knew what kind of incision I wanted and briefly went over the different types of incisions. I decided I wanted the crease incision (inframammory fold).
After she was certain all my questions were answered she took me to a room so I could try on sample implants. I tried on several and decided I was going to get 400cc. After I found a size, Dr. Hedden and his assistant came in and talked to me about what the nurse had written on my chart. He talked about the difference in having the implants placed over and under the muscle. He told me he thought under the muscle was the best option for me. He told me I was a small B and noted that my creases were not even. I showed him the size I was looking at and told him I wanted to be a full C and he said that would work out great.
She returned with my paperwork and gave me a price that was actually a little cheaper than the price I was quoted on the email. I was so excited that I could hardly sleep. I had a little over a month to wait. I called Dr. Hedden's office at least 50 times asking dumb questions. They never got mad and they always assured me that I could call them anytime.
Finally it was time for my 2-week check up. Everyone greeted me with a smile. Dr. Hedden came in and confirmed all my information and asked if there were any changes. I told him I now wanted to go to a D instead of a C. He said that would be no problem.
The following 2 weeks were the slowest days of my life. I went out and bought my sports bra and made plans for my friend to take care of me for a few days.
They called me back on time and took me to a room where I took off my clothes and put on a robe. They asked me if anything had changed and I told them I wanted to go bigger. She brought in some sample implants so I could decide for the last time which size I wanted. After I decided she took the before pictures and had me get on the bed. Dr. Hedden asked me again if I had any questions and I said that I wanted to change the size again. He told me he already had me down as 450cc and I said that was fine.
Next thing I know I'm in the recovery room and feel like my back is on fire. My breasts didn't hurt at all but my back was killing me. I was hurting so bad and all I wanted was to go home.
I got home, got in bed and could hardly breathe from the pain. I took my pain medicine and a muscle relaxer and went to sleep. I woke up about every 3-4 hours hurting and needing more medicine. After the first 8 hours I started feeling better each time I would wake up.
I got up the next morning and went back to Dr. Hedden's office for my check-up. I felt so much better. He said I looked great and scheduled me to come back in 2 weeks.
Within the next few days I was driving and moving around on my own. My surgery was on a Tuesday and the following Monday I went back to work. I was doing and feeling great. When I left work that day I got into a car accident. The seatbelt hurt my breast and it scared me to death. I called Dr. Hedden and his nurse told me to go to the Emergency Room and get an X-ray. They wrapped me up and told me to see Dr. Hedden the next morning. I called him the next day and he was very busy but made time for me. I got a rental car and was heading to his office when I got into another car wreck. I got my brother to call 911 and immediately called Dr. Hedden's office. I made it to their office and they gave me a short massage to calm me down. Dr. Hedden came in and assured me that I was ok. I was so thankful to him for kindness. He really went out of his way to take care of me. Everything was going fine.
A few days after my follow-up appointment I noticed some pain and a strange uncomfortable feeling in my left breast. I called Dr. Hedden's office and they assured me that it was ok and a few weeks later it went away and I had beautiful breasts. I got measured and I was a 36 D. Every day they look better and better and I couldn't be more satisfied. I love my new breasts and I would recommend Dr. Hedden to anyone who wants to get a breast augmentation."
"I am 35 years old, 5' and weigh about 105 pounds. I went from not even a full A to a full 34B. I have wanted and considered breast augmentation surgery since my early 20's. I discussed the issue with my husband on several occasions, he finally told me to call and see about price and getting a consultation.
I emailed Dr. Hedden's office, told them I was interested in a breast augmentation consult and asked the price. I got an email back the same day. I called and got an appointment for a consult. I was not even a full A, so I was afraid he would tell me I was hopeless. The staff was great and made me feel very relaxed. After that, the nurse came in to start the IV.
The surgery went great, and when I woke up there was a nurse right there to see if I was hurting or if I needed anything. I was very surprised that I was not hurting at all. I stayed there a little longer and she asked if I was ready to try to get up, get dressed and leave. I was ready to go, so she helped me to sit up and put on my support bra. Since my breast was so small before and now I actually had some breast, the weight of the implants felt strange, not uncomfortable. After getting dressed, the nurse wheeled me out and we got in the car and were home by midday. We kept an ice bag on each boob for most of the first day.
The days following the surgery went great. I had no problems moving around or getting up and down on my own. I did have a little pain in my left breast during the first week, but nothing unbearable. I still felt like a had a weight in my chest, but again this was not painful or uncomfortable. That went away within the first week. I know everybody has different experiences, but I would not think twice about doing this again, if I had known how little pain and recovery was involved I would have done it years ago. I am so happy I finally got brave enough to go for it. I am looking forward to my first summer wearing a swimsuit that I can actually put some boobs in.
So, for anyone who has been considering breast augmentation surgery I would suggest it, at least making the first step and setting up a consult. You wont regret it! Good luck!"

"I am 26 years old and had augmentation a year ago to replace volume. When I was in high school I had a 34C chest and as I got older and lost weight, I also lost volume in my breasts. When I went to see Dr. Hedden I was down to a small 34B. I am now a 34D and my breasts are much fuller with better shaping.
I chose Dr. Hedden after two of my friends used him. I spent time on the internet looking for board certified surgeons. I loved Dr. Hedden's website and before and after pictures.
When I went for the initial consultation I was very nervous. My husband came with me and we waited for about 10 minutes before being shown to a room. Dr. Hedden was so nice and took about 2 minutes to size them with a tool. I was worried I would have to get a lift and implants but Dr. Hedden assured me the implants would round them out and actually lift them a bit. I scheduled surgery as soon as I could.
I had about two months between the consultation and the surgery. I took that time to research everything about implants. I wanted to know exactly what could go wrong and what I could do to prevent these things. Massage is the best way to protect your investment!
On the day of the surgery the first thing I had to do was have pictures taken. Next I had to get an IV. The last thing I remember is being in the surgery room with lights above.
The next thing I remember is telling the nurse in the recovery room that I wanted a cheeseburger and coke. My husband came in and we went to a nearby hotel to spend the night. We would have to go back the next morning to see the doctor before driving home (about two hours away). My chest was heavy and my husband had to lift me up with his hand under my back, but I felt no pain. The next few days are foggy because I was given pain killers and anti-inflamatory drugs. I can honestly say that I do not remember any pain at all.
I am so happy with the outcome of my surgery. My breasts are much rounder and sit up better. I could go braless anytime but that wouldn't be wise because I want to protect my investment. "I have been overweight all my life. I was 49 years old, weighed 289 lbs, and extremely depressed. My feet, legs, hips and especially my back hurt. I wore a size 22/24 and my feet swelled so that I could only wear one pair of dress shoes comfortably and without embarassment. I considered gastric bypass surgery for a couple of years and had just witnessed one of my best friends go through it with great success.
I made the decision to have the bypass surgery, lost 150 lbs and felt great. I was wearing a size 6-8 and looked pretty good in clothes.
I was very happy but the weight loss left my 50 year old body with a lot of excess skin. My breasts, which had previously been a 42 DDD, had become what my fiancé termed as "36 LONGS." I had nothing left but empty skin sacks. My abdomen also hung with loose skin. My legs were extremely horrible with a lot of loose skin and my arms had "bat-wings."
I made an appointment with Dr. Hedden to talk about having four procedures. He gave me the prices for tummy tuck, breast lift, leg lift and arm lift. My legs were what bothered me most and I called to schedule that procedure first. I'd had large breasts all my life and having just the breast lift would have left me with a full B/loose C cup. After talking with Dr. Hedden, I decided to go up one cup size. That is a decision I do not regret.
I had the tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation done in his office. The staff was wonderful and very professional. I was given a prescription for pain killers and muscle relaxers. My first night was spent in a hotel room so that I could be close to Dr. Hedden's office in case of an emergency. My fiancé stayed with me, helped me to the restroom and cared for me. I had mild discomfort but it was nothing like what had been described by other people who "knew someone who had had the surgery and couldn't move for 6 weeks." I did just what the doctor ordered and had very little discomfort even having both procedures at once. The staff at Dr. Hedden's office marveled at my recovery time.
I am now a happy 36D with a very flat tummy. I love my new body and have been able to shop at Victoria's Secret for more than just the lotions! I will be going back for the other two procedures (legs and arms). Maybe after that I will have a facelift … after all I am 51 years old now!

"I had weight loss surgery in 2012 and I lost over 200 pounds and surprisingly I lost all self confidence. "I am 32 years old, 5'2" and weigh 105 pounds. For years I was so afraid to go to the doctor to even have my finger pricked, let alone a major surgery. But, I was scheduled for another procedure and was prepared to be off work.
My friend who had implants herself actually made the suggestion about getting implants. She said, "Since, you're going to be off work anyway, you could have breast augmentation." At that time I weighed less than 100 pounds and was a very small B cup. I thought, "Here I am always wearing the thickest padded bra I could find, having implants is an excellent idea!"
Once I made the decision, I knew I wanted to use Dr. Hedden. I wanted to be able to have both surgeries simultaneously, but, it ended up being more economical to have the surgeries performed on separate days. Dr. Hedden was highly recommended by several people. From the beginning, he and I had a great rapport and all his staff was very helpful. I liked the fact that I was able to try on the implants. It gave me an idea of what I would actually look like. I chose rather large implants for my size, and I wasn't sure if Dr. Hedden would agree. But he got several measurements from me and said the size would be fine. I would be going from a very small B to a 34D.
The day of surgery I was scared. But, everyone there, especially the anesthesiologist, put me at ease. I told him that I felt nauseated and he gave me some medicine in my IV. I received 425 cc implants. My incisions were made underneath my breasts. I don't remember anything about the surgery. The last thing I remember is talking to the nurse.
When I woke up, I was in a lot of pain, though Dr. Hedden did warn me beforehand. I kept asking for more pain medicine. It felt like an elephant was on top on my chest, it hurt to even walk!
The next day I felt so much better and each day got even better. I went back to work the next the week and wasn't taking any medication. Within four weeks, I was able to go back to the gym. I had no complications at all. The only downfall was that I was so swollen and they were huge at first.
Today, I continue to mainly wear sports bras. I sleep in one every night. It is awesome to be able to not have those bulky padded bras that I used to wear. I would tell anyone that considers breast augmentation that it's a personal issue. Personally, I would do it all over again. I am very happy with the results and so is my husband!"
"I am a 27 year old stay at home mom. I have always wanted larger breasts. I realized mine were abnormally small in junior high school. I was an A cup in high school, but after having and nursing two babies my breasts had shrunk to a tiny 32AA.
Even though I was 5'5" and 115 pounds, I looked like a 12 year old. I could not buy bras anywhere. I had to order from Victoria's Secret. I hated my breasts, or lack thereof. I hated swimsuits and got so tired of padded bras I knew I had to go ahead. I finally had my breast augmentation almost a year ago.

My husband drove me to Birmingham for the surgery. I was extremely nervous when we arrived. Finally we were called back and they started an IV. Dr. Hedden came in after a while and put me at ease. He explained things one more time, then I was off to the OR. I remember drifting off to sleep. When I woke up, I felt like there was an elephant on my chest. I felt a little woozy, too. My husband got me to the hotel. The next morning we went back in to see Dr. Hedden. He said everything looked ok, and we came home.
My recovery at home was pretty uneventful. I slept most of the time. I had printed out every post-op instruction list I could find online, so I was well prepared. I had lots of pillows to prop up on, many snacks, ginger ale and sodas to help with nausea. About 6 weeks post, I noticed I was doing so much better.
Now at 9 months post-op, I couldn't be more pleased. I can go but all kinds of bikinis and strappy tank tops. I look proportional! The only problem I have encountered is some rippling when I bend over. But I figure I don't walk around in public topless and bent over, so it is fine with me.
I am so glad I decided to go ahead with a breast augmentation. Dr. Hedden and his staff were so nice to me. They made me feel very comfortable with my decision."
"I had breast augmentation when I was 25 years old, 5'8" tall and weighed 135 pounds. My breast size was a 34A before surgery but I am now a full 34C.
I spent hours looking at before and after photos and trying to educate myself on various surgical techniques. I decided to schedule a consultation with my friend's surgeon but was able to meet with a new physician in the area first, Dr. William Hedden. I took in several photos to give him an idea of the results I was looking for. My main concern was being too large and looking unnatural. After meeting him and his nurse, I was very comfortable and felt his recommendations would give me the results I was looking for. I wanted a second opinion and kept my appointment with my friend's doctor. When he gave similar recommendations, I decided to follow through with Dr. Hedden. I met with him 3 times to try on sizers before I chose my implant size. He used a smooth, round, moderate profile implant that was 350 cc and would be overfilled to 375cc. The implant would be placed sub-muscularly with the incision under my breasts.
My procedure was planned for a work stretch that would allow me 4 days off. I wasn't really nervous until my husband and I started to drive to Dr. Hedden's office. We met with the nurse and my IV was started. The last thing I remember was walking to the surgical suite.
I don't remember much of my recovery time. I remember sitting up to put my sports bra on and feeling like I had a ton of bricks on my chest. I remember holding my chest and doing Lamaze type breathing to get through the pain. There was intense pressure and it felt as if my chest was going to explode. We stayed in a hotel that night in order to make the follow-up appointment the next morning (his office was a few hours from our home). I don't recall much from that night other than my husband feeding me soup and making me get up and move around as the doctor ordered! He had to wrap his arm around my back and lift me to sit because I could not move on my own. I can remember pulling up to the parking lot the next morning. I was terrified to have Dr. Hedden examine my breasts for fear of pain, but it wasn't that painful. I was pretty swollen and concerned that I had gone too large. He said everything looked great and reminded me that I was still swollen!
We went home and I slept most of the day Thursday and Friday, but moved around at regular intervals. It was Monday morning that I was able to slide off the bed by myself and wash my hair by leaning my head forward. I was able to work that day but couldn't perform any lifting or overhead reaching. I was able to get through the day with ibuprofen only and my pain was well managed.
I was able to move my arms fully by the end of the first week. It took nearly 2 weeks for me to be able to sit up normally from the bed or couch. It was uncomfortable to sleep on my side. It was a month before I attempted to sleep on my stomach. I went back 2 weeks after surgery to have my stitches removed, which was an unpleasant experience.
It has been a year and a half and I could not be more pleased with the results. Once the swelling went down, I felt like I had selected the perfect size implant. It is easier for me to shop because my chest is in proportion with the rest of my body. I would change nothing about my decision to have breast augmentation because it has been a great experience for me. For others who feel the way I did, I would recommend that they make an appointment because it has made a world of difference in my confidence and in my life."
"I am 50 years old and have spent my entire life wishing for a chest. After my first child, I "swelled" up to a 34B, but my second child (whom I breast fed) deflated them right back down.I never dreamed I would ever be able to do anything about my size until my wonderful husband asked what I wanted for Christmas. I expected him to laugh when I said breasts, but he said for me to check it out.
I began immediately researching doctors. I made an initial list of about 12 doctors and narrowed the list to two and made appointments with both of them. My first appointment was with Dr. Hedden. The implants were placed under the muscle from a little incision under the breasts. The incision is in the fold and no one can see it!
My surgery went very well and I left the surgical suite in my sports bra with breasts up under my chin! That was a little scary but I was assured that they would drop into their rightful place! I got very tired of the sports bras and on my Day 3 post op visit we had to wrap my breast with an ace to help them drop. I had pain medicine, but I didn't ever take it for pain due to the surgery. My only pain was from my lower back because I had to sleep on my back for several weeks. I only took it for a few days, but it was very needed to help me sleep. I took three days off from work and was back one week after surgery. When I went back I had to get the other nurses to lift and turn my patients, but they were more than willing to help. It has now been 4 months since my surgery and I feel like I have been this size all my life. My breasts have the most wonderful look and feel. The scars are barely visible and the natural sag to them makes them appear totally natural. I actually have more sensation in them now than I did before surgery.
Would I do this again? In a New York minute! The change in body image has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. "I am 39 years old and got breast implants back in December. I have thought about implants my entire adult life. I have always felt disproportioned. I am 5' 8" and weigh 150 lbs. I was a 36 B.
I found Dr. Hedden via the internet and emailed the clinic. Each time they responded! The girls answering the phone were very nice. The doctor was very professional and made me feel comfortable.
My husband and I made the appointment. I had already decided to get the size of C; in fact, I was so sure that this was what I wanted that I had already bought a bra for after the surgery.
The nurse was very friendly and made me feel at ease. When I told them the size I wanted they said they wanted me to try some on and not think about size but looks and feel. The only thing I did was go to work too early. I had the surgery on Wednesday and went to work on Monday. Although I work on a computer I had a 69 mile drive. That drive is what did me in I was miserable.
To me at first my chest did not look like the great chest shots you see on TV. Up in the air one more swollen or moved over, lopsided. I saw something different that I did not like every day. Slowly they started to fall into place; then I thought they looked too small. I was still swollen up high in my chest for several weeks as expected. Five months later, I am exercising normal and doing everything I used to. Every once in a while I get a twinge or feel funny but I can tell that this happens less and less. "About 7 years ago, after having my second child, I decided to have breast augmentation. Following 2 pregnancies and nursing, my breasts were mostly loose skin.
I went to see a plastic surgeon in Birmingham and had my surgery several months later. I was never completely satisfied because the implants were too high in my chest and did not look natural.
