"My name is Leigh and I am 30 years old. Prior to motherhood, I was not overly concerned with my breast size (34 small-B). However, two children later and many pounds lighter, I found that my breasts had virtually disappeared (34 A). Shirts simply hung on me. I spent several years feeling self conscious about my small breasts and simply not feeling good about how I looked. I wanted larger breasts. I wanted to feel more confident about my appearance.
My husband was extremely supportive. He understood that I felt self conscious about my body and wanted me to feel better about myself. He scheduled my first consultation. One week before my scheduled visit, I cancelled the appointment.
A few months after my cancelled appointment, he scheduled another consultation for me. The physician and his nurses were extremely nice and patient with me. I spent a great deal of time trying on the sizers in the attempt to try and determine what size would be best for me. (I'm 5'2" and weigh 105 lbs.) I was extremely concerned about choosing the right size and the surgeon was extremely helpful in this matter. Based on my wants and body size, he helped me decide on the perfect size for me. I went from a size 34 A to 34 full C. (My implants are saline and were placed submuscular with the incision under the breast.)
On the day of surgery, I was extremely nervous. I met with the Nurse Anesthetist to discuss anesthesia. He met my expectations to a "T".
Upon waking up from surgery, I really wasn't prepared for the type of pain I experienced. While I did have incisional pain, the tightness, swelling and muscle pain was much more intense. Pain medications helped, but the muscle relaxer and ice packs were my best friends. The top of my breasts (or the swelling) were just below my collar bone. (Don't worry. They settle into place.) Due to the soreness, I found it difficult to do simple things like sitting up. However, one week after surgery, I noticed an improvement on a daily basis. I followed my post-op instructions to the letter and had no complications.
I am now 3 months post-op. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the results. I can now purchase cute shirts and dresses and feel confident that I look good in them. I am glad that I had the surgery and would do it all over again without changing a thing."
"My name is Courtney. I am 25 years old, 5'2" and weigh 110 pounds. I had breast augmentation one month ago. I originally was a 34 A-B and am currently a 34 full C.
I considered this procedure for approximately 5 years and finally decided to proceed. It just seemed like the right time to go through with it.
I have to say the whole experience was much easier than I thought it would be. It was less painful than I thought and was really just an uncomfortable feeling. It felt like I had worked out too much at the gym and had a muscle pull. I was very sore but I only needed my pain medication for the first 3 days. I had horrible back aches from the pressure which I did not realize would occur prior to surgery. This was the worst part of the whole recovery process. I had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position for the first month because I am a side sleeper and it hurt too much to sleep in this position. I also had trouble driving in the beginning because it was just too uncomfortable to do.
I would tell anyone considering this procedure to make sure you have a good person to take care of you, preferably your mother. If I had to do anything different, I would have done it a lot sooner."
"Having been a patient for several services with Dr. Hedden and not having had the opportunity to write in why I am so thankful for all he and his entire staff have done for me, I wanted to take this time to do so.
I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to Dr. Hedden and staff. My initial request was that I just wanted to look as young as my husband, or close enough, without looking fake or strange. He went over and above all things for me, for us, and for the first time in my adult life, I feel beautiful.He didn't do drastic changes but just enough to where now when we walk in a place together, we "match." People instantly see me for me. I'm no longer invisible. I'm quite visible and I find it difficult to stop smiling all the time.

"I'm 8 days PO and I must say, I feel really good! My recovery is not at all what I expected. I was terrified of being in excruciating pain and being helpless! The first day was kinda crazy because I was so doped up, so that was a blur. Day 2 was much better, I slept in my own bed, glad I didn't go a get a recliner, but I guess it works for some.
I'm an active person with being a group fitness instructor, so I really think that helped me out a lot. I had no real pain, just discomfort, and by day 4, I was pretty much self sufficient, I no longer need help with getting up and down, I was caring for my own incisions, emptying my drains (which I hate), and taking showers on my own!
I did a lot of praying not to be helpless, even though my hubby and family were there if I needed them, I did what I could on my own. I took a while but I got it done! I still have swelling and the drain sites are irritating but I'm staying in my garment most all day. No problems at all with my breast, I'm so pleased with them.
My doctor and his staff were excellent and made me feel special, he made me feel like he took pride in giving me what I wanted, so Kudos to Dr. Gunn and staff! I'm definitely glad I did it just hate I didn't do it sooner. Today I cooked, washed clothes, and did light housework. I go back on Thursday, at that time I hope they remove the drains, so I can get back to life! No pics yet but I'll have my doctor email them so I can share."
"I am a 31 year old mother of 5 who had been wishing for younger looking breasts and a flatter, tighter stomach for a while. I was very self conscious about the way I looked in and out of clothes! "I had my breast augmentation done by Dr. Hedden. I am absolutely pleased with my results. I went to several different doctors and wasn't comfortable with them performing the surgery. I really wanted a "D" cup but a lot of doctors told me that it wouldn't look right. My current breast size was a small "B" cup. After talking to Dr. Hedden he said that would actually work for me.
When I got my implants they inserted 400cc. I live in Atlanta and drove to Birmingham to have my consulatation and surgery. The entire staff was very professional and I would recommend him 100%. If I need anything else trust me I will be back … Thanks Dr. Hedden!"
"I just wanted to write you personally and tell you how much I love my new boobies. I had surgery on May 23.
I have had no bruising at all and barely any swelling. Just a little pain. I have been healing so wonderfully. I feel great. I have gone to see my doctor twice and everything seems great as well.
I'm so in love with them. I'm not sure if they are still swollen but they are a small D cup, and I'm so happy, they are beautiful, and they feel so real. It's amazing. I will recommend everyone to you, and if i decide to ever have future work, just know I will be seeing you :)

"I had breast augmentation and Smartlipo to my inner and outer thighs. I am 34 years old and wanted lipo for many years. I went for my consultation in August. I knew immediately that I wanted both procedures and Dr. Hedden to be the one to do them.
I was the first surgery of the day. I was very nervous but excited. Dr. Hedden came in the room and we discussed a lot of things. Dr. Hedden was wonderful! I trusted his knowledge and experience, and went with 450cc. He was right! I would have been very disappointed with 350cc to 375cc.
It has only been a little over four months since my surgery, but I can tell you it has changed my life! I look so much better in my clothes. I have a lot more confidence. I am so glad that I did it! This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself and worth it."

"I am 37 years old and the mom of 3 teen children, all of whom I breast fed. I was always small going through school and could never wear the type of clothes I wanted to wear. After breast feeding three babies I dried up to be even smaller. So at 37 I decided to do something special for myself.
I was going to get a breast augmentation. I made the appointment with Dr. Hedden. His staff is very professional and make you feel at ease. They treated me as if they had known me for years. On my first appointment I was told to bring different size bras that I might like to be, so I did C's and D's. They put my husband and I in a room and gave us several different size implants to try on play with. I decided on 425 CC round under the muscle.
Dr. Hedden came in, examined and measured my chest wall and breast, and said that would work and would make me around full C and small D. He explained the surgery and recovery and answered all my questions. I wanted this so bad but was very scared until I left this appointment. Leaving I felt very sure, safe and excited.
I arrived on the morning of the surgery, my husband got to come back and stay with me until time to go to the O.R. We kissed goodbye and off I was to surgery. The anesthesiologist explained to me what she would be doing and we began.
After the surgery I don't really remember a lot until we were almost home. When we got home my husband helped me into the recliner and told me things went great. I just wanted to sleep. Around 4 hours later I awoke asking for a pain pill, feeling sore and aching. The next morn he got me up and helped me take a shower. My first view of the new girls! There was still tape across my incisions and some bruising. They were still high but wow I was a D cup for sure.
The shower felt great and back on with the sports bra. The recliner was my home for the day because I was sore and stiff but not too much pain. No more pain pills all day. In the days to follow I got my strength back in my arms and it wasn't too long that the girls started to drop.
It has been 13 months now since my surgery and I have no regrets. It has been everything I imagined and I can now wear all the cute clothes that I have always wanted to wear.
So expect 3 days to really feel good and a couple of weeks before you can sleep on your side. But I would recommend it to anyone longing for it like I was. The staff and Dr. Hedden will make you feel so comfortable while you are there."
"I finally got my breast augmentation after wanting it for yearsss. I paid for my surgery in April .. Scheduled it in Birmingham, Alabama for July 23rd. The day of surgery was pretty smooth. I was nervous but the anesthesia knocked me out within minutes ! It wasn't as bad as most people said it would be. Just a lot of tightness and pressure. I went with 550CC on the left and 525CC on the right. Before surgery, I was either a 32DD OR A 34D. NOW I'm either a 36DDD or a 38DD. My only Advice is if u want your breasts done DO IT ! IT IS SOO WORTH IT. If u do decide to do it , get plenty of rest! Take someone with u that u can definitely depend on to help u . Let people help u! I will update u guys as time passes. Also, if u want to go the affordable way and get really good results , I would refer my doctor . Doctor Gunn or Doctor Hedden at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. UPDATE — I will be 6 weeks post op on Friday ! My dressings on my stitches came off 3 weeks post op.. I started sleeping on my side about a couple weeks ago . My breasts definitely have dropped tremendously. Up until about a week ago , my breasts were extremely swollen (especially the right one).. but it gets better with time . Time definitely makes a huge difference & I am in love ! I can't wait to fully heal .
UPDATE — Hey guys .. just wanted to update u guys .. My actual bra size is 34i . I'm still shocked about that!. My boobs are super cute and natural looking now & they have became apart of me . I will update u guys as time passes .
UPDATE — Tomorrow will officially be 1 year since my breast augmentation .. I found out that I have Natrelle implants .. I had 465cc on the right filled to 525cc and 500cc on the left filled to 550cc .. i love my boobs !! They have completely dropped and everything .. I forget that they are even there!! If u are considering getting them done , this is your sign !!"
"I have been wanting to get my breasts done for about 4 years. Before my surgery I was a 34A. I am 5'4 and I weigh about 130lbs. I decided to go with 425cc's and so far so good.
I googled "plastic surgeons in AL", that's where I found about 4 surgeons that I was interested in. When you start looking at the before and after pictures you really get a feel as to how talented the surgeon is, and when I saw Dr. Hedden's work I knew he was my surgeon. Always go with board certified. We all desire a surgeon who is performing in the best interest of us, the patient.
I decided to call and make a consultation with Dr. Hedden. The staff there is so nice and make you feel right at home. If they can't answer one of your questions they go out of their way to find the answer for you.
When I got to Hedden Plastic Surgery, I got called right back to a room where a nurse was waiting. She asked me about my incision choice and if I knew what size yet, I told her around a full C and she gave me some options on what would get me there. I decided on 390cc's. Dr. Hedden came in and talked to me, he was very calming and softspoken and extremely professional. He asked which size I decided on and I told him 390cc's and he told me he thought that was a good choice but I could go bigger if I wanted.
Finally the day of my surgery came and boy was I nervous. They asked me if I wanted to change my size and I told them yes I wanted to go to 425cc's. Dr. Hedden came in and was the one who really calmed me down, he assured me everything would be fine.
When I woke up there was a nurse with me, she was so sweet. She asked me how I was doing and if I needed anything and I told her I was fine. She helped me get dressed and wheeled me out to the car. I was in pain but finally it eased up on the 2nd day and I went to my follow-up appointment. Dr. Hedden was wonderful. He said everything looked good and to see me back in 4 weeks.
I am going on a week since my surgery. I have beautiful breasts now and can't stop looking at them. They are riding a little high but that is to be expected. They should be dropping to their natural place soon and I can't wait to buy all new bras and new swim suits!
Dr. Hedden is a wonderful plastic surgeon. He is very talented and I will recommend him to anyone who is looking to get work done. The process is a lot simpler than most make it seem. "I am 23 years old. I had been thinking about breast augmentation for about 2 years before I went to Dr. Hedden for a consultation. For the longest time I felt less than a woman because of my small breast size. I had a nice little figure, but it was a "half hour glass" shape. I have a big butt, a small waist and NO BREAST! I was very troubled by that and one day I did something about it.
I had surgery at Hedden Plastic Surgery. Before augmentation I was a full 34A. I decided to go with 390 cc which would give me about a 2 cup size difference. The day of the surgery I remember going back and speaking briefly with a nurse, the doctor and the anesthesiologist. They all were shocked at how calm I was. I was so happy to be getting this procedure done! I was walked into the surgical suite where I was given an IV. I chose to have my implants placed underneath my muscle and the incision was made underneath the fold of my breast.
The next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room. The nurse smiled and asked how I was doing. I felt really good after I woke up. I truly was not in any pain. It was more of a feeling of tightness in my chest. Shortly thereafter, my fiancé pulled the car up and I was wheeled out. I was feeling well enough that I went into Rite Aid with him to fill my Rx. Then I was taken home to relax and recover.
My recovery process was good. I never felt pain, it was just like a pulled muscle. I was a little stiff for about 2 days, but after that I was okay. I only took maybe 2 of the pain pills. The day after surgery I switched to extra strength Tylenol and the day after that I took nothing. My surgery was on a Monday and I returned to work, feeling great, on Thursday. When I woke up I finally looked down at my "new additions" and noticed that they were basically to my collar bone! They dropped eventually, and now, if I tell someone they do not believe me because they look SO NATURAL!
Some people may think that if you go to a bigger size you may have some limitations to what you can do activity wise. That is not the case for me. I have always been an athletic person and nothing has changed. I can still play basketball, lift weights and anything else that I did before surgery. The only thing I had to adjust to was sleeping on my stomach with a bigger breast size. You kinda feel like you may bust them if you lay on them for too long, but trust me … they won't.
People ask me what was it like to have surgery and would I do it again. My best advice to them would be to research the procedure and the doctor that you would like to go to. Weigh the pros and cons and do what it best for you. But please understand that there are risks involved but for me, my joy and COMPLETE SATISFACTION totally outweighed the risk.
I have had no complication at all and I love my new body. The only thing that I would change would be the size. You may think that 390's sound big and they are. They are a full 34C now, but I think I could pull off a D cup with my body shape. So, Dr. Hedden and staff … see you soon!"
"I am a 33 year old mother of two. After the birth of my second child, my breasts became deflated and saggy. I had contemplated having implants for a couple of years. I finally decided to splurge and schedule my surgery.
I never felt any anxiety about the surgery. I was already a C cup prior to surgery but needed the fullness and perkiness back. I decided to go to a full D cup.
My surgery was scheduled on a Saturday at 2:00. My husband waited in the lobby while I went back and got ready for "the new me." Dr. Hedden came in and marked the size right on my breasts to be sure there were no mistakes, then the nurse began to administer the IV for the anesthesia.
When I woke up from the surgery I was freezing. I felt a lot of pressure, like an elephant was sitting on my chest. The nurse gave me a nice warm blanket and helped me put on the sports bra and my terry cloth jacket. She then wheeled me down in a wheelchair to the lobby where my husband was waiting.
When I got home I started taking the prescriptions. I took these like clockwork the first 24 hours and slept most of the time. I had to have help sitting up in the bed because you cannot put any strain on the arm muscle. The next day I got out of the bed and walked to the couch. I could move around really well. Even though I made myself move around I was careful not to pick up anything or strain my arm or chest muscles.
By the third day I would say I was back to 95% which really surprised me. The surgery and recovery was a lot easier than I had ever anticipated. It definitely was worth what little pain I had and worth every cent I paid. I would do it again in a minute."
"I am 37 years old and prior to my breast augmentation I was a 36A. I have always wanted a breast augmentation for as long as I can remember. I did years of research and looked at hundreds of before and after pictures. I also joined a message board and talked to people that had this done.
I made my consult with Dr. Hedden and decided that he was the surgeon for me. He took the time to answer ALL my questions and I was comfortable with him and the staff. Dr. Hedden had asked me what size I was considering and I said 375cc's and he said let me just suggest that you go with 395cc's. His reason was that most woman want to be bigger because once the swelling goes down you see a different size. I left my consult still unsure about the size I wanted but I booked my surgery!
I went home and did the rice test in the stockings trying to figure out what I wanted. I wore the rice bags in my bras for days to get comfortable with the size I was considering. My husband thought at this point I was just boobie obsessed, which I was. I finally chose 395cc's, round implants and placed under the muscles, under the breast incision.
On my surgery day, I was so excited that I was finally going to have breasts after all these years of being flat chested. I started to get nervous once they took me back, but once I woke from surgery it was OK. The only thing I felt was heaviness on my chest. I felt that way for days. I never really felt any bad pain. I felt heavy on top. So, for me the recovery time was great.
There was another surgery date for me. I had the right breast that had "bottomed out" which means that the right breast was sitting slightly lower then the left. My husband said it was hardly noticeable but I noticed it. I wanted it fixed so Dr. Hedden went back in and did what they call tacking it up. That surgery for me was a little more painful then my first but still no regrets. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I have not had any physical limitations because of my breast augmentation. I'm able to workout and go about my daily life with no problems.
With my surgery I was a 36A and with the 395cc's that put me at 36 small D. I'm very happy that I went ahead with the surgery. I feel better in clothes, my self-esteem has soared. I have had nothing but support from family and friends. I was excited so I had to tell everyone I knew.
In retrospect if I could change one thing I would have gone bigger! I do plan on going bigger in the future. Play with all the sizers or take a bra with you of the size you want to be and see what sizers fill it.
All in all, I have had a GREAT experience. Dr. Hedden and his staff are absolutely wonderful and I would recommend them anyone!"

"I would recommend Dr. Hedden to anyone looking to have plastic surgery. The staff is wonderful. Having said that I will tell you about my experience at Hedden Plastic Surgery.
I was 20 years at the time of the surgery. I weigh about 100 lbs and was an A cup. I have considered breast augmentation for a while. I have always been self conscious about myself throughout school. After I had two kids, I was very unsatisfied with my breast and I finally decided to do something about it.
I started searching online and found Dr. Hedden. I read all the testimonials and decided to make a consultation. After meeting with him I knew right away that he was the one that I was going to let perform my surgery.
The day of my consult was the day I scheduled my surgery. 15 days later was my surgery, I was so excited yet nervous. I was still undecided on the size when I got there but I quickly decided that I wanted 425cc behind muscle with the incision under the breast. They took pictures and started my iv. After they put the anesthesia into my iv, I didn't remember much except them telling me they would take care of me and I was going to be fine. The next thing I remember was waking up very sore. They gave me drink, crackers and I had to have something for pain.
The first day was very uncomfortable for me. I had to stay at a motel because I live more than 30 minutes away from Birmingham. I did not get much sleep that night. I had an appointment the next day. Dr. Hedden said I looked good and that he would see me in 3 weeks. I am still waiting to go to my post-op appointment.
It has been 11 days and I am feeling better. The first week was hard. It feels like a muscle pull, very uncomfortable feeling. I wasn't supposed pick up over 5 lbs and didn't listen because I have a 9 month baby girl and she just made me pick her up. Other than that it has been good.
I am very satisfied with my breast now. I am more confident in myself than I have ever been. So thanks Dr. Hedden and all of his staff!
I was small A cup before surgery now I am a 36C. Sports bras are very comfortable and I love to be able to wear them and still look good. I am so pleased with my results! One of my best friends is considering going to Dr. Hedden to have this procedure because she loves the results also. Thanks to all the staff, they are the nicest people that I have ever meet. "I have five kids and i had stubborn belly fat,and I also wanted a nice butt. So i decided to go with the lipo and fat transfer to the buttocks.
Dr. Hedden made me feel very comfortable. He answered all my questions. He did an amazing job on my fat transfer to my buttocks, I can't stop looking at my butt in the mirror! Love it! I am only two weeks post op and I am seeing great results from my lipo also."
"Nearly 5 years ago I had a reduction and lift which improved my appearance a great deal (made me look 10 lbs. lighter!). Although the surgery was successful and I was more pleased then I ever had been, still it was not quite right. My breasts were not as firm as I thought they should be due to my extra skin in that area. So for the first time, I seriously considered having an augmentation.
It seemed almost ridiculous to me to have had a reduction and then turn right around and have implants! But after consulting with the doctor, I was confident this was the direction I wanted to go.
We proceeded with the surgery and amazingly enough, I felt great when I woke up from the procedure. There was some discomfort. I was actually cutting up with the nurse and staff during my recovery period! In just a matter of days, I was back to my regular routine and was not in much pain. Basically, after the first couple of days, I started taking Extra Strength Tylenol instead of the pain medication. There was just one restriction after surgery and that was not to lift anything heavy for 6 weeks.
It has been months since my surgery. The scars have disappeared, I have no limitations and I can even sleep on my stomach! The most amazing thing to me is that my breasts do not feel like anything has been added, they just look great!
My younger friends are quite envious of my younger figure! The best thing about my augmentation is they look real, not fake! People assume they are mine! I encourage anyone considering an augmentation to have a consultation. They will answer any and all questions and educate you on the procedure. It's one of the best decisions I have ever made!"

"I am 23 and have beautiful breasts. But I have not always been this confident. This past December, I made a decision that I have been contemplating for several years now. I decided to get breast implants.
I have lived my whole life with a very small chest, and have always felt that my body did not look proportional. I graduated college as a size 34A. After graduation, I decided to reward myself with the augmentation I was longing for.
So during a winter break from my graduate studies, I decided it was time. I had my wedding coming up and wanted to look perfect for my special day. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. William Hedden in Birmingham, Alabama to discuss my options. His office had several real "test" implants that I could handle and put in a sports bra. This, along with Dr. Hedden and his nurses' advice, helped me to decide on a 360cc implant. He explained every detail of the procedure and answered all of my relevant, and silly, questions.

"I am 20 years old, 5'10", weigh 145 lbs. and have had my breast implants for a week and a half. I was a very small "A" before surgery and am now a full C. I must start off by saying Dr. Hedden did an excellent job! When you meet him and see his work you'll know why.
I researched breast augmentation for about 2 years and finally saved money to go ahead. My boyfriend's mother had her first surgery performed by Dr. Hedden about 9 months ago. I went to her surgery with her, that's when I first met Dr. Hedden. I told him I'd be a "future patient," not realizing I'd be a patient only 9 months later! My boyfriend's mother had a second procedure performed by Dr. Hedden 5 months ago and by then I'd decided I would definitely use Dr. Hedden because of the beautiful work he did on her.
I scheduled my consultation just to ask Dr. Hedden a few questions and before even consulting with him I scheduled my surgery! I knew he was the doctor for me! When I met with him I felt VERY comfortable with him and his staff. He has a beautiful office and everyone there makes you feel very welcome.
When I met with Dr. Hedden he took a look at me and told me I have what is called "constrictive breasts," which means they never developed. Dr. Hedden asked me what size I'd like to go to and I told him I thought a full C but I wanted his opinion. He told me a full C would be good for me and it'd probably take approx. 400-450 cc's to get me there. I got to try on the implant sizers and really liked the 400 cc range.
Surgery Day! I woke up not really nervous (because I've had surgeries before and I really trusted Dr. Hedden), but I was anxious to get it over with. Finally I would no longer be flat-chested! The nurse took before pictures and gave me my IV. The anesthesiologist came in and put some medicine in my IV, which totally relaxed me.
After I was walked to the operating room, I laid on the operating table and was hooked up to several monitors. The last thing I remember is my head feeling really heavy and I was out!
The next thing I remember was waking up in recovery. I stayed until I felt all right and she put my clothes on along with a sports bra that I am to wear for 2 weeks. I was then wheeled to the car. When I got home, I wasn't in that much pain, just really sore. It was hard to take deep breaths but after taking the muscle relaxer it was a little easier. It just felt like something heavy was compressing my chest. I took a shower by myself and washed my hair by myself the very next day. Although the first couple of days I had to have someone help me get out of the recliner, open pill bottles, get in and out of bed, etc.
I had my surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Monday. As far as being painful, I only took pain med's the day of surgery and the day after. Since then I haven't even taken Tylenol or anything for pain. After returning home from work the first couple of days after surgery I would take a muscle relaxer before going to bed.
I have now had my implants for 10 days and I am doing great! A lot of the swelling has gone down and my new boobies look good! I am so happy that I chose to have the surgery and that I used Dr. Hedden. If I should have to have any type of surgery in the future which Dr. Hedden performs, I'll definitely use his practice. "I had implants 3 weeks ago. I am 45 years old, 5 ft. 3 in. tall and weigh 140 lbs. I was a 34B before surgery and now I am a 36C. I had a 360CC moderate profile smooth round Mentor implants. My implants were placed sub-muscular with my incisions under my breast.
I had always wanted large breasts since high school. I have 2 children and loved being pregnant because I had breast and felt more like a woman.
I had talked to several girls who had breast implants by Dr. Hedden, discussed the pros and cons and felt like I wanted to meet the doctor and ask some questions so I made an appointment for a consultation. I met the doctor and his staff and they made me feel very comfortable and helped me decide what would fit my body. I wasn't able to make an appointment then, but in January I made an appointment for April and was ready to tell the world.
The morning finally came and I was very nervous, not about getting the implants, but about being put to sleep. When I talked to the Anesthesiologist I felt better, but the best advice I got was from Dr. Hedden's nurse. She explained if I could differentiate pressure from pain I would be able to understand what to expect after the surgery.
Finally my dream has come true, my implants were put in and the first 2 to 3 days I was a little uncomfortable with pressure and soreness in the muscles in my chest and under my arms and I had to have help rising up in the bed.
The surgery was on a Wednesday and by Friday I was almost back to myself. The day I got home I took a pain pill and 2 hours later I took a muscle relaxer. The next day I started the antibiotics and took 1 muscle relaxer at night. I can honestly say there was no pain just pressure like the nurse said.
I went back to work in 1 week. I had someone to help me the first 2 days, after that I have been on my own and doing great. I feel a little twinge ever now and then when I shampoo or keep my arms up a lot, but that's to be expected. I feel wonderful. It has given me so much self-esteem. My attitude towards everything is different, I'm a happier wife and a confident stylist with a whole new wardrobe. That was a gift from my husband who is also proud of the "twins".
I have shown a lot of my customers the different me and have answered lots of questions people had and hope that because of my personal experience that I will be able to send some more people to have the procedure.
I will be making another appointment for other procedures that the doctor offers that I have needed for a while.

"I had breast implants last year. I had been struggling with this decision for years. I have always been overweight. I made a deal with myself that if I lost the weight I would go ahead with the surgery. After my second child, I weighed 189 lbs and was a size 14. It took a year but I lost 40 lbs and got down to a size 8. Losing the weight also affected my breast size. I was a small B and after I lost weight I became a small A.
My cousin referred me to Dr. Hedden. I went for a consultation and felt totally comfortable with him and his staff. I tried on sizers and decided on a full C to small D. I did a lot of research and scheduled my surgery for the end of May.
On the day of surgery, I was nervous and excited at the same time. I did not have to wait very long. The surgery itself was fine. I do not remember much pain at all. We had to drive an hour back home and I slept most of the way. My mom kept my children for a few days, so I had plenty of time to rest. I was so concerned with nausea that I would eat crackers every hour. I did not get sick once. I was off from work a total of five days.
The first look at them scared me to death. My husband and I took pictures to compare day by day the progress. It took a while but they softened up a lot in a matter of weeks. After six weeks, I wore a tank top for the first time in 15 years.
It will be a year in three days and I do not regret the decision. I feel better about myself on the outside and inside."
"I'm 23 years old and have wanted a breast augmentation for as long as I can remember. Last year I finally decided I would at least go in for consultation. I did a search and came across www.heddenmd.com. From there I was able to send an email asking all of my questions.
Within a couple of days I received an email from Dr. Hedden. I had asked him general questions about the procedure including the cost. He answered all my questions, even the dumb ones, including the price of the surgery. I was so happy with the price and the doctor's cooperation that I immediately scheduled my consultation.
When I got to the office, I felt very comfortable with the atmosphere. The nurse was in the room waiting for us when we got back. She asked me what I was thinking about having done and I told her I wanted a breast augmentation. She asked me if I knew what kind of incision I wanted and briefly went over the different types of incisions. I decided I wanted the crease incision (inframammory fold).
After she was certain all my questions were answered she took me to a room so I could try on sample implants. I tried on several and decided I was going to get 400cc. After I found a size, Dr. Hedden and his assistant came in and talked to me about what the nurse had written on my chart. He talked about the difference in having the implants placed over and under the muscle. He told me he thought under the muscle was the best option for me. He told me I was a small B and noted that my creases were not even. I showed him the size I was looking at and told him I wanted to be a full C and he said that would work out great.
She returned with my paperwork and gave me a price that was actually a little cheaper than the price I was quoted on the email. I was so excited that I could hardly sleep. I had a little over a month to wait. I called Dr. Hedden's office at least 50 times asking dumb questions. They never got mad and they always assured me that I could call them anytime.
Finally it was time for my 2-week check up. Everyone greeted me with a smile. Dr. Hedden came in and confirmed all my information and asked if there were any changes. I told him I now wanted to go to a D instead of a C. He said that would be no problem.
The following 2 weeks were the slowest days of my life. I went out and bought my sports bra and made plans for my friend to take care of me for a few days.
They called me back on time and took me to a room where I took off my clothes and put on a robe. They asked me if anything had changed and I told them I wanted to go bigger. She brought in some sample implants so I could decide for the last time which size I wanted. After I decided she took the before pictures and had me get on the bed. Dr. Hedden asked me again if I had any questions and I said that I wanted to change the size again. He told me he already had me down as 450cc and I said that was fine.
Next thing I know I'm in the recovery room and feel like my back is on fire. My breasts didn't hurt at all but my back was killing me. I was hurting so bad and all I wanted was to go home.
I got home, got in bed and could hardly breathe from the pain. I took my pain medicine and a muscle relaxer and went to sleep. I woke up about every 3-4 hours hurting and needing more medicine. After the first 8 hours I started feeling better each time I would wake up.
I got up the next morning and went back to Dr. Hedden's office for my check-up. I felt so much better. He said I looked great and scheduled me to come back in 2 weeks.
Within the next few days I was driving and moving around on my own. My surgery was on a Tuesday and the following Monday I went back to work. I was doing and feeling great. When I left work that day I got into a car accident. The seatbelt hurt my breast and it scared me to death. I called Dr. Hedden and his nurse told me to go to the Emergency Room and get an X-ray. They wrapped me up and told me to see Dr. Hedden the next morning. I called him the next day and he was very busy but made time for me. I got a rental car and was heading to his office when I got into another car wreck. I got my brother to call 911 and immediately called Dr. Hedden's office. I made it to their office and they gave me a short massage to calm me down. Dr. Hedden came in and assured me that I was ok. I was so thankful to him for kindness. He really went out of his way to take care of me. Everything was going fine.
A few days after my follow-up appointment I noticed some pain and a strange uncomfortable feeling in my left breast. I called Dr. Hedden's office and they assured me that it was ok and a few weeks later it went away and I had beautiful breasts. I got measured and I was a 36 D. Every day they look better and better and I couldn't be more satisfied. I love my new breasts and I would recommend Dr. Hedden to anyone who wants to get a breast augmentation."
"I am 35 years old, 5' and weigh about 105 pounds. I went from not even a full A to a full 34B. I have wanted and considered breast augmentation surgery since my early 20's. I discussed the issue with my husband on several occasions, he finally told me to call and see about price and getting a consultation.
I emailed Dr. Hedden's office, told them I was interested in a breast augmentation consult and asked the price. I got an email back the same day. I called and got an appointment for a consult. I was not even a full A, so I was afraid he would tell me I was hopeless. The staff was great and made me feel very relaxed. Once I got to the consult room and started looking at the sizers and pictures, I started feeling much better. When Dr. Hedden came in, I felt very comfortable with him. I went back to do my pre-op stuff and again the staff was great; the nurses answered any questions we had and told us what to expect after surgery. On the day of surgery the staff was ready for us. My husband and I went into an exam room where I removed my shirt and bra and put on a robe. Dr. Hedden came in to do his markings and see if we had any questions. After that, the nurse came in to start the IV.
The surgery went great, and when I woke up there was a nurse right there to see if I was hurting or if I needed anything. I was very surprised that I was not hurting at all. I stayed there a little longer and she asked if I was ready to try to get up, get dressed and leave. I was ready to go, so she helped me to sit up and put on my support bra. Since my breast was so small before and now I actually had some breast, the weight of the implants felt strange, not uncomfortable. After getting dressed, the nurse wheeled me out and we got in the car and were home by midday. We kept an ice bag on each boob for most of the first day.
The days following the surgery went great. I had no problems moving around or getting up and down on my own. I did have a little pain in my left breast during the first week, but nothing unbearable. I still felt like a had a weight in my chest, but again this was not painful or uncomfortable. That went away within the first week. I know everybody has different experiences, but I would not think twice about doing this again, if I had known how little pain and recovery was involved I would have done it years ago. I am so happy I finally got brave enough to go for it. I am looking forward to my first summer wearing a swimsuit that I can actually put some boobs in.
So, for anyone who has been considering breast augmentation surgery I would suggest it, at least making the first step and setting up a consult. You wont regret it! Good luck!"
"I am 26 years old and had augmentation a year ago to replace volume. When I was in high school I had a 34C chest and as I got older and lost weight, I also lost volume in my breasts. When I went to see Dr. Hedden I was down to a small 34B. I am now a 34D and my breasts are much fuller with better shaping.
I chose Dr. Hedden after two of my friends used him. I spent time on the internet looking for board certified surgeons. I loved Dr. Hedden's website and before and after pictures.
When I went for the initial consultation I was very nervous. My husband came with me and we waited for about 10 minutes before being shown to a room. Dr. Hedden was so nice and took about 2 minutes to size them with a tool. I was worried I would have to get a lift and implants but Dr. Hedden assured me the implants would round them out and actually lift them a bit. I scheduled surgery as soon as I could.
I had about two months between the consultation and the surgery. I took that time to research everything about implants. I wanted to know exactly what could go wrong and what I could do to prevent these things. Massage is the best way to protect your investment!
On the day of the surgery the first thing I had to do was have pictures taken. Next I had to get an IV. The last thing I remember is being in the surgery room with lights above.
The next thing I remember is telling the nurse in the recovery room that I wanted a cheeseburger and coke. My husband came in and we went to a nearby hotel to spend the night. We would have to go back the next morning to see the doctor before driving home (about two hours away). My chest was heavy and my husband had to lift me up with his hand under my back, but I felt no pain. The next few days are foggy because I was given pain killers and anti-inflamatory drugs. I can honestly say that I do not remember any pain at all.
I am so happy with the outcome of my surgery. My breasts are much rounder and sit up better. I could go braless anytime but that wouldn't be wise because I want to protect my investment. I massage them still and they are very soft and feel pretty natural. This was the best decision for me and I would do it all over again."
"For many years I have wanted a nicely shaped derrière. I have run marathons, engaged in rigorous exercise routines, but no matter what I did, I was never able to attain the look I desired. I finally began looking at surgical alternatives, did a lot of research and decided the results I was looking for would probably require buttock augmentation. A consultation with Dr. Hedden confirmed this procedure would likely provide the results I desired. Below I will share a very brief story of my first 6 weeks post-operatively.
Days 1-7: This was a pretty uncomfortable time for me. I felt very, very sore and it was difficult to find a comfortable position. However, the pain medication and muscle relaxers made it bearable. Each day got a little better.
Days 8-14: Bandages off … able to see results so the discomfort has been worth it! By Day 14, I went back to work full-time (office type job). I am comfortable sitting at work; you don't sit on the implants as they are placed above the part of your "bottom" that touches a seat. And best of all, my bottom "feels" natural to the touch … you can't feel the implants from the outside! However, still sore at times.
Days 15-21: By the end of the third week I was able to fully return to all activities except exercise. Still sore at times, but rather than feeling "painful" it feels more like feels like I have worked out really hard on a Stairmaster.
Days 22-28: Main challenge has been to not "over-do-it." I feel great and want to work out. I tried to exercise a little but my body was just not ready. Don't cheat and do any exercise routine early. It is NOT worth it. I tend to be impatient; as a result I am a little frustrated that I am not back to 100%.
Days 29-35: Still a little sore, but gets better every day.
Days 36-42: The implants now feel like a natural part of my body and the result is absolutely what I wanted. I have returned to all activities that I engaged in pre-operatively. I still wear the same size clothing, but the fit is SO MUCH better. I am very pleased with how much better my favorite, worn-out jeans look :)"
"I have been a client of Dr. Hedden for several years. I have gotten Botox, Dysport and Juvéderm injections, Chemical Peels, Lime Light, Titan, and recently Fraxel and Pearl. I had the surgery at their surgery center and was there for about 2 hours. It was performed under local anesthetic and did not hurt at all. I have to admit I was very nervous that it was going to hurt but it did not, it was so easy. I was back to work the next day and had no signs of bruising.
I look great! I still cannot believe it did not hurt. I should have had it done even earlier. It was so worth it and very inexpensive.
I do believe my outcome was so good because I choose the right doctor. Do your research! Make sure they are a plastic surgeon and of course no dogs in the office. :)"
"I have been overweight all my life. I was 49 years old, weighed 289 lbs, and extremely depressed. My feet, legs, hips and especially my back hurt. I wore a size 22/24 and my feet swelled so that I could only wear one pair of dress shoes comfortably and without embarassment. I considered gastric bypass surgery for a couple of years and had just witnessed one of my best friends go through it with great success.

My first night was spent in a hotel room so that I could be close to Dr. Hedden's office in case of an emergency. My fiancé stayed with me, helped me to the restroom and cared for me. I had mild discomfort but it was nothing like what had been described by other people who "knew someone who had had the surgery and couldn't move for 6 weeks." I did just what the doctor ordered and had very little discomfort even having both procedures at once. The staff at Dr. Hedden's office marveled at my recovery time.
I am now a happy 36D with a very flat tummy. I love my new body and have been able to shop at Victoria's Secret for more than just the lotions! I will be going back for the other two procedures (legs and arms). Maybe after that I will have a facelift … after all I am 51 years old now!

"I am 32 years old, 5'2" and weigh 105 pounds. For years I was so afraid to go to the doctor to even have my finger pricked, let alone a major surgery. But, I was scheduled for another procedure and was prepared to be off work.
My friend who had implants herself actually made the suggestion about getting implants. She said, "Since, you're going to be off work anyway, you could have breast augmentation." At that time I weighed less than 100 pounds and was a very small B cup. I thought, "Here I am always wearing the thickest padded bra I could find, having implants is an excellent idea!"
Once I made the decision, I knew I wanted to use Dr. Hedden. I wanted to be able to have both surgeries simultaneously, but, it ended up being more economical to have the surgeries performed on separate days. Dr. Hedden was highly recommended by several people. From the beginning, he and I had a great rapport and all his staff was very helpful. I liked the fact that I was able to try on the implants. It gave me an idea of what I would actually look like. I chose rather large implants for my size, and I wasn't sure if Dr. Hedden would agree. But he got several measurements from me and said the size would be fine. I would be going from a very small B to a 34D.
The day of surgery I was scared. But, everyone there, especially the anesthesiologist, put me at ease. I told him that I felt nauseated and he gave me some medicine in my IV. I received 425 cc implants. My incisions were made underneath my breasts. I don't remember anything about the surgery. The last thing I remember is talking to the nurse.
When I woke up, I was in a lot of pain, though Dr. Hedden did warn me beforehand. I kept asking for more pain medicine. It felt like an elephant was on top on my chest, it hurt to even walk!
The next day I felt so much better and each day got even better. I went back to work the next the week and wasn't taking any medication. Within four weeks, I was able to go back to the gym. I had no complications at all. The only downfall was that I was so swollen and they were huge at first.
Today, I continue to mainly wear sports bras. I sleep in one every night. It is awesome to be able to not have those bulky padded bras that I used to wear. I would tell anyone that considers breast augmentation that it's a personal issue. Personally, I would do it all over again. I am very happy with the results and so is my husband!"

Now at 9 months post-op, I couldn't be more pleased. I can go but all kinds of bikinis and strappy tank tops. I look proportional! The only problem I have encountered is some rippling when I bend over. But I figure I don't walk around in public topless and bent over, so it is fine with me.

"I had breast augmentation when I was 25 years old, 5'8" tall and weighed 135 pounds. My breast size was a 34A before surgery but I am now a full 34C.
I spent hours looking at before and after photos and trying to educate myself on various surgical techniques. I decided to schedule a consultation with my friend's surgeon but was able to meet with a new physician in the area first, Dr. William Hedden. I took in several photos to give him an idea of the results I was looking for. My main concern was being too large and looking unnatural. After meeting him and his nurse, I was very comfortable and felt his recommendations would give me the results I was looking for. I wanted a second opinion and kept my appointment with my friend's doctor. When he gave similar recommendations, I decided to follow through with Dr. Hedden. I met with him 3 times to try on sizers before I chose my implant size. He used a smooth, round, moderate profile implant that was 350 cc and would be overfilled to 375cc. The implant would be placed sub-muscularly with the incision under my breasts.
My procedure was planned for a work stretch that would allow me 4 days off. I wasn't really nervous until my husband and I started to drive to Dr. Hedden's office. We met with the nurse and my IV was started. The last thing I remember was walking to the surgical suite.
I don't remember much of my recovery time. I remember sitting up to put my sports bra on and feeling like I had a ton of bricks on my chest. I remember holding my chest and doing Lamaze type breathing to get through the pain. There was intense pressure and it felt as if my chest was going to explode. We stayed in a hotel that night in order to make the follow-up appointment the next morning (his office was a few hours from our home). I don't recall much from that night other than my husband feeding me soup and making me get up and move around as the doctor ordered! He had to wrap his arm around my back and lift me to sit because I could not move on my own. I can remember pulling up to the parking lot the next morning. I was terrified to have Dr. Hedden examine my breasts for fear of pain, but it wasn't that painful. I was pretty swollen and concerned that I had gone too large. He said everything looked great and reminded me that I was still swollen!
We went home and I slept most of the day Thursday and Friday, but moved around at regular intervals. It was Monday morning that I was able to slide off the bed by myself and wash my hair by leaning my head forward. I was able to work that day but couldn't perform any lifting or overhead reaching. I was able to get through the day with ibuprofen only and my pain was well managed.
I was able to move my arms fully by the end of the first week. It took nearly 2 weeks for me to be able to sit up normally from the bed or couch. It was uncomfortable to sleep on my side. It was a month before I attempted to sleep on my stomach. I went back 2 weeks after surgery to have my stitches removed, which was an unpleasant experience.
It has been a year and a half and I could not be more pleased with the results. Once the swelling went down, I felt like I had selected the perfect size implant. It is easier for me to shop because my chest is in proportion with the rest of my body. I would change nothing about my decision to have breast augmentation because it has been a great experience for me. For others who feel the way I did, I would recommend that they make an appointment because it has made a world of difference in my confidence and in my life."
"I am 50 years old and have spent my entire life wishing for a chest. After my first child, I "swelled" up to a 34B, but my second child (whom I breast fed) deflated them right back down.I never dreamed I would ever be able to do anything about my size until my wonderful husband asked what I wanted for Christmas. My surgery went very well and I left the surgical suite in my sports bra with breasts up under my chin! That was a little scary but I was assured that they would drop into their rightful place! I got very tired of the sports bras and on my Day 3 post op visit we had to wrap my breast with an ace to help them drop. I had pain medicine, but I didn't ever take it for pain due to the surgery. My only pain was from my lower back because I had to sleep on my back for several weeks. I only took it for a few days, but it was very needed to help me sleep. I took three days off from work and was back one week after surgery. When I went back I had to get the other nurses to lift and turn my patients, but they were more than willing to help. It has now been 4 months since my surgery and I feel like I have been this size all my life. My breasts have the most wonderful look and feel. The scars are barely visible and the natural sag to them makes them appear totally natural. I actually have more sensation in them now than I did before surgery.
Would I do this again? In a New York minute! The change in body image has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. For the first time in my life, my top is in proportion to the bottom. I fill out shirts that hung flat before. I own 13 bras in every color and the thrill of the day is deciding which one I want to wear.

"I am 39 years old and got breast implants back in December. I have thought about implants my entire adult life. I have always felt disproportioned. I am 5' 8" and weigh 150 lbs. I was a 36 B.
I found Dr. Hedden via the internet and emailed the clinic. Each time they responded! The girls answering the phone were very nice. The doctor was very professional and made me feel comfortable.
My husband and I made the appointment. I had already decided to get the size of C; in fact, I was so sure that this was what I wanted that I had already bought a bra for after the surgery.
The nurse was very friendly and made me feel at ease. When I told them the size I wanted they said they wanted me to try some on and not think about size but looks and feel. The day of surgery, I drifted into a peaceful dream state. I do not remember much about getting up or going to the motel. I remember waking up and being nauseated. I threw up a couple of times.
Everyone says that it feels like a huge weight on your chest, but I did not feel that. One of the reasons may have been that I exercised my chest muscles and my abs to make them stronger for the surgery. I exercise a great deal and when I am at my best weight my breasts would go down to a size A.
First when I saw "the twins" I thought I may have made a mistake. They were huge and it hurt to move, breathe, etc. I used a lot of ice and took care to follow the instructions. I was very careful not to do too much.
The only thing I did was go to work too early. I had the surgery on Wednesday and went to work on Monday. Although I work on a computer I had a 69 mile drive. That drive is what did me in I was miserable.
To me at first my chest did not look like the great chest shots you see on TV. Up in the air one more swollen or moved over, lopsided. I saw something different that I did not like every day. Slowly they started to fall into place; then I thought they looked too small. I was still swollen up high in my chest for several weeks as expected. This swelling pushed them out to the side, so no cleavage. Then slowly the swelling went down and they started to come together and now I love them. I feel I am in proportion and can work out and loose weight without losing my chest! Now that they are older they feel like they are part of my body.
I am very thankful I went with the D because the C would have been too small. I think by the looks many people do notice something but are not sure what it is. My Mom said that I look like I am in proportion and they don't look too large. If I had gone with anyone beside Dr. Hedden I probably would have gotten the C and still been too small for my frame.
Five months later, I am exercising normal and doing everything I used to. Every once in a while I get a twinge or feel funny but I can tell that this happens less and less. "About 7 years ago, after having my second child, I decided to have breast augmentation. Following 2 pregnancies and nursing, my breasts were mostly loose skin.
I went to see a plastic surgeon in Birmingham and had my surgery several months later. I was never completely satisfied because the implants were too high in my chest and did not look natural.
