A Smoother Recovery with Exparel
Narcotic pain relievers can cause a number of side effects, including nausea, constipation, drowsiness and lightheadedness. Non-narcotic Exparel is specially formulated with bupivacaine, a non-opoid local anesthetic proven to relieve discomfort and pain. Using Exparel to manage pain following surgical procedures at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery allows patients to recover with fewer narcotics or even avoid taking them altogether.
During your cosmetic or reconstructive plastic surgery procedure in Birmingham, Alabama, Exparel is injected into the specific surgical site to numb the areas where pain is most likely to be experienced. The medication in Exparel starts working immediately and is released gradually to provide narcotic-free pain control for up to 3 days.
Exparel Safety
EXPAREL (bupivacaine liposome injectable suspension) is indicated for single-dose infiltration in patients aged 6 years and older to produce postsurgical local analgesia and in adults as an interscalene brachial plexus nerve block to produce postsurgical regional analgesia. Side effects can occur with any medication; it is important not to ignore anything you might feel. Some patients in clinical trials who received EXPAREL or other pain relievers experienced nausea, vomiting, fever and/or constipation. Speak with your doctor right away if you get any of these more frequent side effects, or if you have questions about possible side effects.
EXPAREL can significantly reduce post-surgical pain and discomfort in the first few days following surgery without the side effects of narcotics.
